Attorney for woman who says she dated, drank with Roy Moore as a teen releases new statement
CBS Local - Birmingham, AL ^ | November 10, 2017 | By Haley Townsend Rhinehart

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) — The attorney for Gloria Deason, who was named in the Washington Post article alleging Roy Moore had sexual contact with a 14-year-old as saying she was taken on dates by Moore when she was 18 and he in his 30s, has released an extended statement “due to the public falsehoods and defamatory remarks being made by Roy Moore,” she says.

Read the full statement below:

This statement is being given due to the public falsehoods and defamatory remarks being made by Roy Moore, many Alabama Republican officeholders and leaders, and Steve Bannon, regarding the motivations of Ms. Deason in describing her former relationship with Moore. She did not seek public exposure on the events described in The Washington Post article. She was contacted by the Post reporters several weeks ago. After careful consideration, and fully understanding that her character and veracity would be viciously attacked, she nonetheless agreed to go on the record and tell the truth.

Ms. Deason confirms that the The Post accurately reported the substance of her interviews with them. She does not know the other women named in the article. She is no longer a resident of Alabama. She is a registered Republican, but has no affiliation with the RNC and has not been contacted by the RNC or any Republican leaders at any time. The same is true for the DNC and Democratic leaders. She does not know Doug Jones, has not been contacted at any point by him or anyone associated with his campaign nor made any financial contributions to him.

There is nothing about being public regarding her relationship with Roy Moore that will enhance Ms. Deason’s life. She did not seek the limelight. No glory, no financial compensation, no justice. But she stands firmly on the truth. No one can take that away from her. No one.

And Roy Moore knows the truth. Notably, he has not denied knowing Ms. Deason, or pursuing and dating her when she was 18 and he was in his mid-thirties. He has not denied plying her with alcohol knowing in his position as a district attorney that she was younger than the legal drinking age. He has not given a press conference or opened himself up to questions on his relationship with Ms. Deason or the other women named in the article. He appears to be in hiding while issuing incendiary statements about the women, calling them “evil” and accusing them of bribery and conspiracy with the DNC. He has also sent emails to his supporters using this as a reason to request more financial contributions for his campaign.

It is reprehensible that so many Alabama Republican officeholders and leaders of their party have rejected wholesale the magnitude of evidence reported in The Post. Worse yet, they claim that even if they believed the statements of pedophilia and sexual assault, specifically against Leigh Corfman (the 14 year old), to be true, they don’t find it to be illegal or immoral conduct by Moore. A 14 year old cannot legally give consent for sex. In short, these leaders don’t care. This is a stunning admission that the GOP is not a party of family values, certainly not in Alabama. And Steve Bannon’s ridiculous statement that Moore’s misconduct is akin to “locker room talk” deserves no response. It fails on its face.

For those critical of these 4 women for not voluntarily coming forward earlier, ask yourselves what difference it would have made. Republicans in Alabama, the Christian conservatives of the Deep South, are saying that they don’t care if Roy Moore’s predatory sexual child pursuits are true. It’s no big deal to them that Moore abused his position of power as a district attorney and committed crimes against teenage women.

They are mixing up several stories.

This is not the 14 year old.

This one dated Roy Moore when she was 18 or so. He remembers dating her but is not sure exactly when. She is alleging that he bought her a glass of wine one time when they were out.

He says that he didn't.

So he didn’t deny it.

That’s not an admission of guilt, for one thing.

The other thing is that even if he did deny it, they would claim that his denial was proof he was guilty.

And if he admits it, he’s guilty.

Damned if he does and damned if he doesn’t.

And as a lawyer, he also knows enough not to comment about ANYTHING to anyone because it WILL be used against him.

Drinking age was 18 or 19 in the South in the 70’s and not enforced by alcohol commissions like it is today... what a crock this charge is.

I’m not sure if you read the full article or not, but it mentions that her parents knew they were dating, fully approved of it, and thought he was good marriage material so they allowed her to stay out past curfew with him. I thought that was interesting—it wasn’t as if they were sneaking around or anything!

I am trying to encourage all supporters to contact the campaign to encourage them. A few are bailing, but for the most part anyone who knows how this works can see through the garbage.

And she's also written them down in big red crayola which makes them doubly true.

Honest.

Really.

You do - at least a little bit I am sure. You were parroting the Uniparty smears on Judge Moore.

No, actually I don't.

Your reading comprehension is in serious need of improvement, I take it, as I was accusing the Uni-Party of this. Not even sure how you could possibly say I am smearing Judge Moore, since I stand solidly behind him & think this is a bogus claim that has the Uni-Party creaming in their jeans over delight.

Furthermore, the lawyer claims that she is a Republican and that this is not politically motivated, but provides no proof that those claims are even true.

At worse this woman's claims are that he provided alcohol to an under aged person, though back then very few places still had the age of legal drinking set over the age of 18 which she was. Her charge especially holds the least credibility of untoward behavior.

Perhaps you can show me exactly how I parroted the traitorous rat ba$tards of the GOPe.

My reading comprehension is perfectly fine. In fact, it is so good that your little game of cowardly, Chicken Little mewling and defeatism leapt out of your 20 posts since the beginning of November.

Please do me the courtesy of explaining where all of your posts prior to November went.

No stories before these, but as long as Gloria Allred lives you can beat your bottom dollar there will one per day till the day of the election. She has a bullpen full of these skanks that will say anything to get a couple hundred bucks and an interview on CNN, I’d be willing to bet the first one surfaces this weekend, maybe two.

Whatever, I have no clue where you are coming from. Go away you little insignificant pissant, you bore me with your ludicrous ramblings & accusations.

Not only does your reading comprehension need vast improvement, your total lack of functional communication makes you appear to be an idiot. I have no time for idiots.

Moore said it was a dry county so it would have been kind of hard to get alcohol.

The fact that she named Bannon is prima facie proof that this hit was paid for by the GOPe.

I found fact that she named Bannon interesting too.

That I have no doubt of & the RINOs will increase their calls for Roy Moore to be removed from the election so they can install their copiously compliant fellow traveler who will follow their orders. After all, we cannot tolerate obstruction to the globalist ideology of our masters who are handsomely rewarding us.
