Just like any group of people, you have good and bad. The problem with the Orthodox is, they have been told to resist the Jewish state since it began. I don’t really understand why, but they seem to believe Zionism is wrong. I suppose they are waiting for Messiah to come and give them a state. Maybe it has to do with killing, I don’t know. I’m sure when some Arab country prepares to invade, they would step up. I can’t imagine anyone waiting to be slaughtered due to some vapor of a principle sent down from their fathers.

From what I understand, you’re right. At least some Orthodox Jews believe that the state of Israel should only exist after the Messiah comes. So the current state of Israel is illegitimate.

Is that why they refuse to serve in the armed forces? I don’t know. But I’ve read that they believe that a certain segment of Jewish society should be devoted to Torah study, and do nothing else.

Perhaps a more knowledgeable Freeper will come along and provide the details.

Zionism = moral relativists, Marxists (Those that started settling in the late 19th century were Marxists first and not Spiritual at all, sorry) and secular "Judaism". Israel is one of if not the largest countries percentage wise comprised of atheism/agnosticism. For Muslims, the atheism is more "offensive" than their Jewish heritage.

Orthodox Jews can't decide who ticks them off more, the secular culture Jew or Christians.
