The study, published today (Oct. 17) in the journal JAMA, found that men who received blood transfusions from previously pregnant female donors were 13 percent more likely to die during the study period, compared with men who received blood transfusions from male donors. In contrast, men who received blood transf usions from women who had never been pregnant were not at increased risk of death over the study period, compared with men who received transfusions from other men, the study found. And women who received blood from women either with or without a history of pregnancy were not at increased risk of death, compared with women who received blood from male donors.

Overall, nearly 4,000 participants died during the study period. For male patients, there were 101 deaths per 1,000 people per year among those who received blood from female donors with a history of pregnancy, compared with just 80 deaths per 1,000 people per year among those who received blood from male donors. This increased rate of death was seen only for men ages 50 and younger.
Among the men who received blood from women without a history of pregnancy, there were 78 deaths per 1,000 people per year — about the same as the rate of death among men who received transfusions from male donors. ...
In addition, the finding of an increased risk of death among men who received transfusions from ever-pregnant women was true only for men ages 50 and younger. "This makes the findings very tentative, and they require validation in other studies," the researchers wrote.

Probably something to do with elevated antibodies during pregnancies lingering in the blood, and these antibodies then causing destruction in the male body.

The story is reasonably good about pointing out the limitations of this research. Which I find nice, for a change.
Still, it does cast some doubt that blood type alone may be sufficient to determine compatibility. Certainly an avenue worth following.
Except in California, where wrong”pronouns” are considered more dangerous than HIV blood donors.

Wait then does it have the same affect if a trans women donated the blood? If not, why that proves trans women are not really women. It is scientific, don't you know.

The rise in the number of women blood transfusions to men directly correlates with the increase in the number of liberals and democrats. The science is undeniable.
This has to do with HLA antibodies. Women who have children are exposed to HLA antigens from the father that were passed along to the child. These antigens stimulate the production of antibodies in the mother. These antibodies are not detected in routine blood donor screening and could cause problems for the recipient. Why males and not females? Because the females have developed immune tolerance from pregnancy. This is a matter of statistics.
HLA = human leukocyte antigen = the basic immune response to foreign antigens.
What if the female donor self-identifies as male?
