The JFK Document Dump Could Be a Fiasco

As it stands now, the document release this month will be a logistical nightmare, with the public suddenly flooded with a huge online library of documents—tens of thousands in total—that will be, at first, mostly incomprehensible even to experienced students of the assassination. The National Archives, abandoning its plans to release the documents in batches over the course of several months, said this week that it will instead release everything at once – all on the same day – sometime between now and the deadline on Oct. 26.

...

Many are known to involve a mysterious chapter in the history of the assassination – a six-day trip that JFK assassin Lee Harvey Oswald paid to Mexico City several weeks before the president’s murder, in which Oswald met with Cuban and Soviet spies and came under intensive surveillance by the CIA’s Mexico City station. Previously released FBI documents suggest that Oswald spoke openly in Mexico about his intention to kill Kennedy.

...

Under the 1992 law, millions of pages of other documents about the assassination were made public in the 1990s, and they did reshape the thinking of many historians about JFK’s murder. Many of those documents revealed how much information had been withheld by the CIA and the FBI over the years that demonstrated how those agencies had bungled intelligence in 1963 that, if acted on, might have prevented the assassination.

This week, the National Archives cited “processing” delays to explain why it had abandoned its original plan this year to release the documents in an orderly fashion, in batches, over the course of the summer and early fall. Instead, it said, everything will be released at once at some point this month – possibly on the deadline day, Oct. 26.

Sure he did with a POS rifle, with no ammo to speak of, no evidence that he ever practiced, that had been transported back and forth between N.O and Dallas, that had been buried without any indication that it sights had been re-calibrated.

With this marvel of a rifle, he pulled shots that expert marksmen could not duplicate’

Of course, he did. The Warren Commission said so.

These we already know as facts:

Oswald renounced his US citizenship and moved to the Soviet Union soon after leaving the US Marines.

He lived in the Soviet Union for several years. Married a Soviet citizen there.

Then he moved back to the USA with his Soviet citizen wife. He visited Mexico City several weeks before the assassination. He handed out pro communist literature in New Orleans. He appeared on a radio show there espousing communism.

So the only questions I’m interest are:

Why was he allowed to come back to the US from the USSR after defecting and renouncing his citizenship? Why was he allowed to bring his Soviet citizen wife? This was the height of the Cold War and the USSR was our enemy! Why was he allowed to travel back and forth across the US border after his return? And most importantly why has the US government and more importantly the FBI never taken responsibility for not monitoring him more carefully after his move to Dallas? He had met with the field officers there, but then he was allowed to murder the president.

So on the part of te FBI and the US government, this was either a conspiracy or incompetence. Which was it? American taxpayers have a right the know the to this question. Were they involved or just wildly incompetent?

Interesting take but it cannot explain the actions of the Intelligence agencies in covering it up.

JFK was exploring means of opening up to Castro and relations with Cuba so Castro had no motive in killing him and taking on such a huge risk. War and invasion of Cuba would result had any such plot been found out.

JBK's voice and diction is incredibly off-putting, IMO.

I suppose one could get used to it, but I'd have a hard time.

(Thanks for the reminder on Callas. I've had Anna Netrebko in my play lists.)

He only made a show of renouncing his citizenship, he never actually did it. The pro-communist event in NO was the same kind of show. This is consistent with “sheep dipping” of an intelligence operatives. Nothing in his return was SOP and there were interventions by forces unknown in several key points.

Certain elements of the government and its intelligence agencies were not only grooming and watching him from the time he was at a Top Secret base in Japan but had involvement in this killing and that knowledge was almost totally withheld from the WC

Could very well have been. I think it was in one of Robert Caro’s LBJ bios that has then-SML Mike Mansfield showing up on newly nominated DNC candidate for POTUS JFK’s doorstep with LBJ in tow, telling JFK, “Here’s your running mate”.

More likely a KGB asset.

Beginning to wonder if there’s a difference.

It is actually possible to destroy documents. (I am sure no public servant ever would.)

You do realize that he never made a confession to the Dallas PD or FBI, right? Furthermore, every time he was in public he denied it and stated he was a patsy.

Hardly the talk of a commie revolutionary.

He wasn't fighting in the streets or waging guerrilla warfare in the mountains. But he was a communist sympathizer, and those sympathies had a lot to do with why he shot Kennedy.

Oswald probably expected to get away. When he got caught he lost his nerve. He had a wife (barely) and a child and relatives (of a sort) and maybe in the moment he couldn't bear them thinking badly of him.

I agree. HW Bush is literally the only person i ever heard of who cannot remember where he was when he found out JFK was murdered.

“But he was a communist sympathizer, and those sympathies had a lot to do with why he shot Kennedy.”

Yeah, right. The entire industrial military complex, the Joint Chiefs, and the CIA despised him. Their plans for Operation Northwoods ware killed by JFK. They wanted an invasion of Cuba and designed Bay of Pigs to force him into it. Lemay even wanted a nuclear first strike on Russia. Kennedy was in the way of all that.

No no, it was a communist sympathizer who killed the president who everyone was mad at for being -too soft- on communism. Then this communist who said he was a patsy was immediately murdered by a patriotic mafia member. And the deep state opposed him, but they would never stoop to doing here what they had done in a dozen other countries. Yeah, it was just like that.

Go back to sleep.

4 weeks after the murder, Harry Truman published an op-ed saying the CIA was acting in a manner that made him very uncomfortable.

For extra fun, JFK really supported the making of Seven days in May.

The JFK assassination was Americas own successful coup de tat. Its laughably clear to everyone except us.

It will reveal that LBJ conspired with George Bush and the The Skull and Bones and Illuminati and the Freemasons and the mob to kill off John Kennedy and later Robert Kennedy.
Oswald was just a dup. The real shots came from the grassy knoll.
