Transgender footballer Hannah Mouncey's application for the AFLW draft has been rejected.
Mouncey, who played for Ainslie in the AFL Canberra women's competition, was denied on the grounds that the physical disparity would give her an unfair advantage.
"The AFL has made a decision that the physical disparity between Hannah and other AFLW players is significant, in that it would have an effect on the AFLW competition and give rise to an unreasonable advantage," an AFL statement read.
"The subcommittee’s decision took into account the stage of maturity of the AFLW competition, its current player cohort and Ms Mouncey’s individual circumstances.

Now, a long time ago, before my grandparents were born, in the days of slavery (in the USA and other parts of the world) slaveowners would breed their slaves so as to get good workers. Really big and strong men tended to have big and strong sons. And that is one reason why a DISPROPORTIONATE number of blacks are in the NFL and NBA today. So in a way some of that bad stuff has turned out really good for them.
But I got a little off track there. So how long will it be until parents are telling their sons who want to play pro sports to go to the “de-cocker doctor” to make their ambitions reality.
When the ends justify the means, logic is just a nuisance.
Women’s teams will have to put in language where they explicitly define “woman” as “born with exactly two X chromosomes and a vagina”. Then deal with the hate from the LGBTs
It is sufficient to say, “all women have a karyotype 46 XX”. If you want to include women with Turner’s syndrome, you could add the language “or 45 XO” to the above. You could also say, “no person with the karyotype 46 XY may compete in this league”.
Physical features are the least of it.
