I’ve read “The Handmaid’s Tale”

In a future time babies were not being born. There were many reasons. A lot had been aborted, contraception, but also it hinted of nuclear war and pollution. Most men and women were infertile. Only a few women could bring a baby to term that would live. Those were the “Handmaids”, the fertile ones. In that book our society was dying quickly.

Not that these women have read the book.

By their logic however what they are saying is that even in a society that is truly desperate and almost to cease to exist women should still be allowed to abort a baby or use contraception because that is “her right”.

They seem to miss the point that in ‘The Handmaids Tale’ they would have been stoned to death for aborting a baby.

If they’d read the book, they’d remember that the handmaids didn’t get to keep their baby anyway-he/she went to the wife of the “commander” they were assigned to-maybe those bitches and harpies are referring to the fact that if the handmaid’s baby was disabled in any way, it was called a “shredder” taken away and summarily murdered-a post-birth abortion...
