Windows 10 To Surpass Windows 7 Before 2017 Ends, According To Recent Data
Fossbytes ^ | 10/16/2017

The market share of Windows 10 is rising and, if the numbers by known analyst firms turn out to be true, Windows 10 might have a greater market share than the all-time popular Windows 7.

According to the numbers by Statcounter, the total market share of Windows 10 as of September is 39.3% which isn’t much less than that of Windows 7 (43.99%). Also, the market share graph in the case of Windows 10 is constantly rising, it saw a bump of 1.43% between August and September.

By looking at the graph, it’s visible that there has been a decline in the popularity of Windows 7, possibly due to more people upgrading to Windows 10 and almost every new PC comes pre-installed with Windows 10. So, by default, people use nothing but the latest version of Windows.

However, one thing to be noted here is this comparison only includes various Windows versions. If different operating systems are brought into the picture, Android has already surpassed Windows months ago.

We might be able to see some improvements in Windows 10’s popularity once the Fall Creators Update is released to the public this month. And if the highs and lows continue in the similar fashion, Windows 10 might wear the popularity crown before 2017 says goodbye.

Don’t care. They’ll have to pry Win 7 from my cold dead fingers before going to Win 10.

Me to.

I will never, ever have Windows 10 on m computer.

Windows 7 is bad enough.

Never again will I buy a Windows product.

It is Mac or Linux going forward until something better comes along.

Yes. Your computer owns the license. HWIDs or combination of parts. Did a reinstall from a thumb drive and it was reasonably simple.

Still be running 8.1 if the damn machine didn’t have it’s own mind. Told it many times not to upgrade, but it just decided to one day.

Windows 7 has its problems. I got tired of them and use Linux Mint on my desktop and laptop.

Love, love, loved Linux Mint. But beware ... Debian drank the SystemD koolaid, which will flow through to Ubuntu, and then Mint. Keep an eye out for PCLinuxOS in case you discover one day that the Microsoft paradigm of "embrace, extend, and extinguish" ruins the Minty fresh experience for you. I'm loving PCLinuxOS these days.

“Windows 7 has its problems”
MS sent updates about 4 days ago. My PC was screwed up for 4 days, finally got it running better after my security program stopped a virus attack and I ran a scan and CCleaner.

I switched fully to Linux. I have two computers running C4C Lubuntu ReSpin based on Ubuntu xenial. I also have JULinux 16 based on Ubuntu MATE xenial on a USB hard drive, the artwork and theme of which is designed by a real Christian Washingtonian like myself. These operating systems have been working well for me so far. However, they do have systemd, so if you prefer to stay away from systemd, you may want to go with either Devuan stable if stability if important and you don’t mind using some software from around 2014; or Devuan testing, or PCLinuxOS, if you want newer software.

Not bad for a completely unusable system.

Try a MacMini, install Parallels and either Windows 7 or Windows 8.1 - THAT’s a spiffy machine!

I do like the Dell Micro as well...
