Oh, the photo I saw had much more contrast than that - and it was taken lower (probably from a helicopter). The green side was impenetrable green; the barren side was completely barren.
Why don’t Haitians plant? Because white people will see to their needs.

Yup...was going to be my answer. South Africa, Rhodesia...virtually all former white ruled colonies were successful and had high standards of living. Not anymore.

I often point out that, if whites suddenly disappeared, who would take over and provide food, clean water, electricity, gas and so on. They don’t realize they do not have the trained people to operate the infrastructure of a modern society.
Who’s white? What are the distinguishing racial characteristics? Are White Hispanics white? Is “Hispanic” a race? The whole thing confuses me these days.

Does “Asian” refer to a race? I thought the reference was to a continent. Anyway, I believe they’re perfectly capable of massive brutality. Look at Japan leading up to and including WWII, or China after the ChiCom took over.

I can think of a number of reasons that this image comparison would be unconvincing to the unconvinced.
A relatively subtle observation, which was not immediately obvious to me despite my previous posts, is that the people living in the contemporary huts (or whatever you might call them) at least have a better chance of genuinely knowing the Lord than the builders of the Pantheon (which, if any readers don’t know, was converted to a church). I’m reminded of what happened in a different city with great buildings: “Now while Paul waited for them at Athens, his spirit was stirred in him, when he saw the city wholly given to idolatry.” (Acts 17:16)
I agree with you. It is primarily a matter of culture, but it is also a matter of intelligence; mutually supportive.
Sure they know that (whites are necessary to maintain the infrastructure); if they didn’t, Hurricane Katrina showed them. If they bothered to read, they’d see exactly what happened in post-colonial Africa - the infrastructure simply fell apart.
Years ago I read an article in Nat’l. Geographic about Uganda; a women was showing the author where Obote’s men had killed her father years before. She showed them the bones in the yard; nobody had even bothered the guy.
Was there no hint in the article of why the body was exposed? I may have never visited Uganda, but at least I imagine that if Ugandans generally left dead bodies lying around, I would've heard something by now.
There was no explanation at all, but I have my suspicions; a friend was doing humanitarian work in another country in Africa when an educated African told her of the crazy traditions and superstitions of the less-educated people - then proceeded to tell her to stay away from certain areas because evil spirits lived there.
If you see pictures of sub-Saharan African cities today, you realize that with few exceptions nothing is maintained. Pavement crumbles, electrical parts break down with age, and even if someone knew how to fix things the money to do so is stolen long before the work can be started.
Reminds me of a National Geographic program years ago when the UN proceeded to drill water wells for the people in Africa. No one would help them as the men considered themselves to be “Warriors, not farmers!”
They now had clean water, until the valve at the bottom of the well pipe broke, a simple fix, but no one would fix it.
So, back to hauling water, a pot at a time, from miles away.
Reminds me of a Peter Hathaway Capstick story on a woman who went to get water, and was attacked and killed by a crocodile. A simple barrier with sticks across the water gathering place would have made that particular place safe to get water, but NO, it was work to fence off a section of the river to keep crocs away. So the women still put their lives in their hands to get water at the same place.
Really, very dysfunctional cultures (or lack of them); almost like lions. The females do the hunting and feeding, and the male just keeps the pride safe by being present. Just like lions, it works until stronger males arrive.
Saw an interview with a Puerto Rican family sitting out on their porch a couple days ago that was all slap down Trump. Thing was, the family, after all these days after the hurricane, still hadn’t bothered to clean up their yard. They were waiting for someone else to do it for them. Odd, the reporter never noticed that glaring fact while he was badmouthing Trump.
What would any of EBT crowd do when the first of the month rolled around and there was no one to refill their cards?
We have a community of blacks that Katrina blew in. They were given a church, nice houses and the very best P R I M E land around but they’re still on their little Katrina whine so they don’t have to pay property taxes.
