I understand exactly what you’re saying. And when a relationship (romantic, professional, etc.) changes, dedication to the relationship is usually the first thing that goes. “Going through the motions” becomes SOP.
OTOH, you’ve unilaterally given yourself a rai$e, while feeing up time for other things in life that are important for you (family, other business opportunities, hobbies, etc.).
