PUBLISHED: 04/04/17 08:46 AM EDTUPDATED: 04/21/17 05:27 PM EDT DAYTON, Ohio Authorities say a 13-year-old Ohio boy died of a suspected heroin overdose, and his father has been jailed in a previous drug-related case.
Nathan Wylie's father and another man brought the unresponsive boy to a Dayton fire station March 28 and indicated that Nathan got into his father's drugs. The boy died Saturday at a hospital.
Police told the Dayton Daily News on Monday they were awaiting a toxicology report and interviewing witnesses to determine exactly what kind of drugs the boy accessed and how.
His father, 40-year-old Robert Wylie, was arrested on suspicion of child endangerment and remained jailed in connection with a December traffic stop in which he was arrested for drug possession.

Poor kid, 13 heroin? Satan is here.
I firmly believe that Ohio, Indiana, WV are being targeted because of great Christian people that have lived and built this great nation, even more so than other states in this union. Ohio is ground zero.
I was in Grove City Ohio just recently on business. Interstate, hotels, fast food, trucking going from Texas to Mid America and Grove City is one of thousands of Ground Zero drug displacement zones/cities that redistribute.
A wall will absolutely help, however, long term? We need dads at home and no welfare.
Simple math here, or Ohio... Columbus is dead. Pray for Columbus that it does not turn Philadelphia, Dc or Chicago.
Yet many suffering people need opioids for serious pain control. It’s a hard problem to solve.
Why when anything bad happens do people like you blame God(for disasters) or Satan?
It’s not like humans don’t do anything by themselves. We only have free will.
Concentrated effort by who? These people are choosing to engage in this behavior. No one is forcing them. This is conspiratorial nonsense.
It sounds like you’re assuming that Christians are more likely to get involved with opioids?
Why would someone target Christian neighborhoods that way?
I’m sure I’m missinf something here....
The most effective poisons are the ones that taste good. you just spread it around and the critters come running. I think at this point, you have to conclude that Americans are being poisoned with a very tasty poison and I think you can conclude that the people allowing it to be spread are every bit as guilty as the people that are actually spreading it.
drug addiction steals free will.
Although I live in Southeast Florida, since my father died last year around Thanksgiving I spend one week every two months at the family ‘s homestead in Trumbull County, Ohio (land grant, Revolutionary War). That area - - Northeast Ohio - - has a worse drug problem than Florida. Last Christmas they had 23 overdoses in 24 hours.
Knock off the “Satan” bullcrap and take responsibility for your own wellbeing. And start dealing harshly with the people on the sell side of the opioid epidemic in Ohio. Even if they have a medical license.
Central Florida also from that area... The deaths, the hopelessness.... Until the day I die I will never forgive the multi-culturalist pimps. Creating favorable conditions to move manufacturing out of the country while committing a full-on assault against my people. The kids grow up being told they are from the most evil DNA stock ever unleashed on the planet.
Also never forget the Bill Kristol and National Review types who sneer at the white underclass. Putting them into the dustbin of history is all a part of America First.
Agreed. Very good points.
You cannot be serious.
I felt the same away about your post actually.
Well stated. I am a recovering alcoholic with close to 14 years of sobriety. One aspect of alcoholism/addiction that confounds and breaks the heart of loved ones is the misperception that alcoholics have no will power. To the contrary, an alcoholic's will is strongly inclined to indulge their addiction. Incarcerated prisoners will smuggle fruit out the dining hall in their butt cracks to ferment in their cell commode. Soviet pilots and their ground crews would conspire to report icing conditions in flight so that they could account for de-icing fluid they siphoned off on the tarmac to drink. These are the actions of people who are strongly and desperately inclined to get drunk, not those of tepid will or weak resolve; the problem is that the will is pointed in a self-destructive direction.
For me, recovery and relief only came once I recognized that there was a fundamental flaw in my will, and became wiling to subordinate my will to God's will, and that it was God's will that I keep away from my addiction.
You can find well-credentialed academics, physicians, shrinks, addiction specialists, therapists, etc. on both sides of the nature vs. issue. For me, hopping on either side of the issue is a non-starter. If I come to believe that my alcoholism is genetic, that I was, "born that way," then I have a perfect excuse to keep drinking and can justify the behavior as simply part of who I am, down to the genetic level. If I let myself believe that my alcoholism is learned behavior, then I can easily convince myself that I can unlearn it, modify my behavior and drink responsibly. I know better from experience.
Indeed, I don't spend a lot of time (any time, really) contemplating the genetic vs. behavioral aspect of my alcoholism, as either would sooner or later lead me back to the bottle. My recovery did not begin until I began to understand and deal with it as a spiritual malady, and this is where I need to keep my mind, my heart and my soul.
I have seen enough lives destroyed my drugs, tobacco, and alcohol to know that the addicted have very little free will. I’m watching a close relative die of liver disease right now from drinking. he’s 55 years old. He probably won’t see 56. cigarettes killed my mother at 56. I have seen two heroin overdoses tonight in my ER. I have seen numerous people that I grew up with OD and die. It’s all poison AFAIC. The dealers should be taken out to the woodline and shot and left for the vultures.
People overdose on it all the time because of the widely fluctuating, unpredictable strength which is inherent when a black market exists.
This—and all the other negative features directly associated with contraband law—is perfectly logical and predictable.
Personally, I'd rather see education and rehabilitation in a decriminalized environment, but since Prohibition has worked so well over the last century or more—including the sterling example of alcohol—apparently self-righteous nanny-staters know what's best for everyone.
And since Prohibition is such a wonderfully Constitutional solution to boot—replete with an ever-expanding police state apparatus which doesn't trample the Constitution at all, and which so clolsely epitomizes Americans' sacred belief in minimal government—apparently self-righteous nanny-staters know what's best for everyone.
Left or Right, it doesn't matter—Arbitrary Law kills Individuals and destroys Liberty...
This is the Grove City that has that wonderful college? Grove City College?
No. Pa vs oh
Unfortunately it is on it’s way.
Nathan Wylie is in our prayers. We need to get tough on drugs. We need to tell kids that drugs are bad at a young age...
