It has been scarcely a week since the tsunami hit. On October 6 The New York Times decided it could not afford to be behind the curve as the biggest scandal ever to hit Tinsel town unfolded with all its unseemly tawdriness. The sea change came after decades of coverup and turning a blind eye as one of the most powerful figures in Hollywood roamed like some hulking, unshaven, brute beast, pathologically preying at will upon young starlets....
(Mentions FR) Ironically, some of Weinsteins few remaining supporters were to be found online on conservative discussion boards, where they blamed the victimsuch as the poster on a Free Republic discussion thread, who, in an attempt to deflect blame away from Weinstein, retorted: And what about the whores who serviced him? Others referred to her as slut (fortunately, this was very much a minority opinion on that stellar conservative site)... (Article continues)
I disagree. Any attempt to deflect attention away from this monstrous pervert is rightly viewed as a semi-defense of the man. Of course many of his victims made poor choices, but Weinstein sexually assaulted them, and we must not in any way side with him against his victims.
I’m sure your sane and reasonable response will bring the crazies out of the woodwork.
“...we must not in any way mitigate his guilt.”
Believe me, there’s enough hate in my heart for all concerned. It does not mitigate anything.
Wow, that would truly be something if this degenerate would turn state's witness. But that would never happen, as the Deep State is still in control, and would squash any attempt to expose themselves.
In the future, please post blog material in the bloggers forum.
We’re waiting and waiting and waiting

Our CHRISTMAS GIFT this year?
> If you are claiming that there are no defenders of the pervert Weinstein on FR - blaming the victims = then you havent been reading the threads. <
Wow. I said no such thing. Not even a hint of that. In fact, I clearly stated that such defenders exist here: “those minority opinions on Free Republic...”
What I did say - also clearly - is that the author, for some reason, singled out Free Republic as a site where Weinstein defenders exist. No other sites were mentioned. That’s a smear against Free Republic.
As I noted earlier, I don’t think it was deliberate. Maybe it was just sloppy journalism. Maybe the author was too lazy to investigate other sites.
Maybe it's just somebody's brand new cheesy free blog.
I don’t see how. Cosby drugged, then raped his victims. Weinstein traded career favors for sex. It’s hard to think of his willing paramours as victims.
I finally got off my rear and googled pizzagate.
Phooey. Another discredited conspiracy theory.
That is totally a stretch, to bring up an extreme case in order to cast aspersions upon the growing list of women who were victimized by Harvey Weinstein.
It's not a stretch to note that your blog crap has been moved to "Chat".
It was a shock in the series Mad Men when one of the stars, Christina Hendricks, or rather her character, did exactly that to become a partner in the firm.
Theres a common pattern among these incidents: Weinstein invited the women to his hotel room ostensibly to discuss business, and they went along willingly.
It should have been a lesson drilled into their heads when they hit puberty: never accept any mans invitation to his hotel room.
Oh, poor “banned and suspended” humblegunner is offended that someone called out his despicable defense of Weinstein! One wonders what he has to hide, that he should be compelled to excuse sexual predators?
You are behind the curve. There were plenty of defenders of Crosby on this forum, because he had allegedly spoken some conservative sentiments, which absolved him of any guilt.
> Maybe it’s just somebody’s brand new cheesy free blog. <
Ah, good point. And I’ll take the opportunity here to thank you for your watchful eye on this blog thing. It’s my understanding that it’s OK to post on FR from a blog, as long as the post is in General/Chat, with no excerpts.
Too many folks ignore, or are unaware of that, and so they clog up the News feed with blog ramblings. Keep reminding them of the righteous path, HG.
(And I say all that as someone who has inadvertently posted from a blog a time or two...HG’s ‘gentle’ comments on those threads have caused me to be more careful.)
I was wondering if one of his rape victims was going to go to law enforcement.
Agreed. Totally foolish decision on their part. In many cases, their desire for fame and fortune may have clouded their judgment. But we must not let that detract from the guilt of that monster.
