Scouting in England is coed but there is also a separate female Girl Guide organization ( ditto for Canada)
I dont consider the World Scouting Organization to be “ pussified” - do you?
Been to an international jamboree and seen the Scouts doing their thing?
High adventure almost all the way
The BSA is about the last World Organization Scout member to go coed

It is a UK tradition now, but it wasn’t “a tradition” then. It started in the UK not earlier than 1908, and the Boy Scouts of America was founded in 1910.
