Why would they have to change the wording!? They’re employees.

It’s not exactly “secret” since everyone is talking about it.

Big deal! So they stand! We know what’s in their hearts. They hate this country. They should go back to their homeland.

I have mixed feelings on this. It would be an acknowledgment that Trump was right. It would also be a way to stop the fan bleeding from the sport, something I would prefer not happen. Those involved with the NFL, including ESPN, really need to suffer to completely understand the consequences of injecting politics into game day.

Why is it that I would get fired for protesting or being political at work but the NFL players are somehow exempt from that?

Here is a thought... they wear uniforms, right? Put them under the UCMJ as long as they are in uniform and the rest will follow, right?

Do I REALLY need to add the tag???

Typical Liberal writer living in his WholeFoods Hipster Bubble. The NFL is not about to give Donald Trump what he wants, they are about to give THE AMERICAN PEOPLE what they want.

WAKE UP PEOPLE

He parsing.

He says ‘stand’
NOTHING about hand on heart -

DO it the right way - or it is NOT right - they ‘stood’ once before - with arms interlocked and smirks on their faces.

this is just another smirk

Don’t let them get away with it - he showed his true colors when, after vowing to can anyone who didn’t correctly honor the flag - he turned around and ‘took a knee’ with them.

He has no credibility,

He has no honor.

This is a ruse to get POTUS to say - not enough - then they can whine about him being so stubborn ‘what more does he want’ etc etc - - they think they’ve got the perfect trap for POTUS

we gonna let it slide? We gonna swallow their rhetoric

It will be interesting to see how the NFLPA will be exposed as UnAmerican Union Thugs when they go to court and the it is determined that the CBA is not worth the paper it is printed on.

Better yet, it is going to be fun to see Jerry Jones cut Dak Prescott and Ezekiel Elliott when they take a knee during our national anthem.

Jerry Jones would cut Prescott and Elliott and no other NFL team would sign them!

That is going to be so good.

I was told years ago, probably before 2000, that talk or emails involving politics was not allowed at work (defense contractor). Sad thing was many talked about Obama without repercussions. Hypocrites.

Trump is a media genius. I used to not think so, or I didn’t look at it deeply — but with just two tweets and a couple sentences in a speech, he knew exactly how to make the NFL his byatch

Next up - Goodell is getting fired

A waste of time, but nice still just to show that Trump was right.

It’s a waste of time because most of us that have walked away from the NFL...will not be coming back.

The NFL is getting serious about this and will not stand for it anymore.

Even star players that refuse to stand and honor our flag and national anthem are going to get cut. It does not matter how good they are.

Even Aaron Rodgerswould be cut from the Packers and there would be no NFL team that would want to sign him again.

Last year at this time the NFL had the highest ratings of any sports team. %53 to %59. Right now it is at %44!

I love it when liberals panic over Trump. From the article:

Schefter reported that the league is considering a further revision that would change the words “should stand” to “must stand.” According to ESPN, the decision will likely be made at the league’s annual fall meeting on Oct. 17-18. At least one NFL owner, Jerry Jones, has promised to enforce the non-binding recommendation version of the rule on his Dallas Cowboys and bench protesting players. Jones has explicitly credited the president with having “reminded me about the game ops policy.”

Now it looks like Goodell is going to mandate that the rest of the league follow the Cowboys’ owner example, as well as president Trump’s suggestions.

This move would offer teams license to “fire” any “son of a bitch” who doesn’t stand, lest owners face severe NFL-mandated consequences. It would also allow the league to suspend protesting players. Most importantly, it would suppress players’ attempts to exercise free speech rights in a total cave to Trump, which is perhaps why Goodell is considering it as surreptitiously as possible.
