Nick Kristof:"North Korea's economy growing substantially faster than US economy" (vanity)
Morning Joe ^ | 10/10/17 | self

Posted on 10/10/2017 5:08:31 AM PDT by Sam's Army

Caught at end of his interview; at 7:55 EST.

"They've been liberalizing their economy and boosting productivity"

This comes right after he says that the sanctions have had the effect of nearly doubling their gas prices (how many people there drive?), and that Pyongyang spends about half the day dealing with power outages.

Any information coming from the NORKS is whatever Little Rocket Man says it is. Anyone who believes it is a fool.

Sounds like Diogenes was right about slave labor.

Someday NK may overtake US.

Considering how little their economy produces, even a tiny uptick in production output could be seen as a substantial percentage increase. Since all the means of production are state-owned, they’re probably counting the manufacture of all those missiles Fatboy has been chucking in the ocean lately.

Kristof would rather live under Lil’ Kim than Donald Trump.

Maybe we ought to put 1/3 of America into gulag work camps?

Of course Kristof is a fool but there is a germ of truth in what he is saying. The Communist system of distribution collapsed in the famine if the 90’s and has not been rebuilt. Instead it has been replaced by what appears to be a vigorous black market which the government has no choice but to tolerate. Detailed in this book.

And in other news, the North Korean Lunar Colony is really going gangbusters and is now larger than Texas.

An economy based on drug sales, weapon sales and counterfeiting Western currencies. An economy where the top leadership are fat slobs with funny haircuts and the rest of the population looks like survivors of Auschwitz.

The only way this logic works is that you put two McDonalds in Pyongyang. You would triple the GDP in a matter of six weeks.

From practically zero to a small but definable amount would SEEM to be a great leap in “productivity”, but most of that “productivity” comes from buildup of the nuclear capability and the increasing reliability of their launch vehicles for those nuclear devices. There simply is not that much more consumer productivity in all of North Korea.

To compare North Korea to the United States is not even apples to oranges. it is more like fecal matter to pure platinum.

Going from $50 valuation to $200 is a 400% increase. Going from $100 Trillion to $103 Trillion is a 3% increase. It’s simple math. When you’re at the bottom, going any direction upwards is an improvement.

Nobody other than tenured professors believes in communism any longer. All communist countries today accommodate themselves to a degree of a market economy, whether legally or via an illegal but tolerated black market (this is called grey market).

The consequence of this is: the so-called communist countries of the world are all vile and corrupt gangs. Their governments ARE organized crime. If you think the Las Vegas gunman was scary, think of the Las Vegas gunman with nuclear weapons.
