Four weeks into the current NFL season television ratings are down nearly 10% overall compared to the first four weeks of last season. Sundays games in Week 4, according to Nielsen, had the smallest audience of any season so far: an average 14.2 million viewers.
Add that ratings dip to the ongoing controversy around player protests, and you might reasonably wonder how official NFL sponsors, as well as brands that buy advertising during NFL games, feel right now about the league. The answer: Theyre nervous, says Brian Cristiano, CEO of ad agency Bold Worldwide. Everyone is looking at the numbers, theyre looking at the ratings
theyre nervous. Theyre like, Are we overpaying? What are we going to do? Can we have makeups? How else are we going to get this exposure back?' ...

Good! You should be nervous you Anti-American, P*ssy-Hat wearing, Felon-Loving, WIMPY Mudderfockers! Im NOT watching my beloved Packers come Sunday.
Screw You, NFL! SCREW YOU! Thanks SO MUCH for ruining something that was really, REALLY special in my life.
Bite me.
A friend just asked who my Lion’s are playing this week......told him they’ve lost me till they wake up and the truth is i’m not really sure even if that event happens!!
Isnt it depressing that 14.2 million people still watch NFL football..?
For comfort just tell yourself their all Liberals!
I don’t forget.
And because I know that any “apologies” or cosmetic changes will be backed with no sincerely, I will never forgive.
Liberal apologies are always lies. They meant it when they said it always applies.....except when they are forced to apologize.
The Titanic is sinking.
That is a shrinking number.
The problem for the nfl is I dont miss it nearly as much as I thought I would. If management ever came to its senses and capitulated completely to patriotic Americans, if I watched any football at all it would be at a very diminished rate. MLB strikes did the same thing to baseball and it never really recovered.
Only if you're feeling like a woman today.
And that, in itself, is a problem (or sacrilege).
Sunday is the Lord's day, and we've turned it into a day of watching minstrels entertain us with their skills. We turned them into American idols, and forgotten our roots - and Who deserves our attention and praise.
In a way, Kapernick deserves a few complements for helping some Americans (not all) shake the Sports/TV watching fix and idolatry.
Understanding that many of these idols are thugs, or arrogant Prima donnas, that despise their 'fans' (as well as this Nation) - helps.
NFL? An historical aberration.
“...told him theyve lost me till they wake up and the truth is Im not really sure even if that event happens!”
I know! This is like the Worst. Breakup. Ever.
Remember how guys say that Hillary reminds them of their Ex-Wife?
The NFL is now my Ex-Husband! Jerks!
Right there with you and a dear friend who adored Rodgers is so angry at him right now! I don’t know anyone who is still watching the game.
Glad to hear it!
It was bad ENOUGH watching Favre, ‘retire’ and then go to the Jets and the Vi-Queens! ;)
I just FINALLY got over THAT betrayal - and now THIS?
How much MORE am I supposed to take? I’m only one woman! ;)
Good for you!
That's exactly how I feel too. It's like that old saying, "the toothpaste is out of the tube, and they will never be able to put it back again".
Never Following Losers again.
And this season”s dip is on top of last year’s decline. As long as Roger Goodell is in charge, the slide will continue. Every time an important decision needs to be made he ALWAYS makes the wrong choice. It is instinctual with him. He can’t help it. His $40M salary couldn’t begin to cover the cost of the clue he needs to buy.
I did my bit too.
Keep the pressure on them. Step it up.
If the NFL owners are only ‘nervous’ then we need to escalate. I want to see them despondent and suicidal.
