What about rubber bands? They can be used to make a bump fire type of operation

This arsecovering just feeds into the narrative that guns themselves are to blame. Not the sickness in society and publicity hungry murderers looking to immortalize themselves.

Why?
Next time a terrorist or nutcase will use some other trick and we will bemoan how such a thing could have been legal.
Eventually everything will be forbidden, which is exactly the goal of Commies, Fascists and Terrorists alike.

I would not want a bumpfire stock even if it was free. However, especially in politics, I object to trading something for nothing. We want silencers and CCW reciprocity. The totalitarian thugs want to ban something so they can claim a win. Let’s trade. Remove the restriction on suppressors and mandate reciprocity, and I’m okay with the useless but symbolic ban on these stocks. But don’t trade it away for nothing, and don’t add to the narrative that guns are the problem.

"The NRA believes that devices designed to allow semi-automatic rifles to function like fully-automatic rifles should be subject to additional regulations. The NRA is wrong. Rather, the National Firearms Act, which unconstitutionally infringes our right to keep and bear arms, must be repealed.

W-w-w-w-w-wait a minute. Is murder by bump stock legal today???
If it is, we should tighten that up.
To: heterosupremacist
Any additional gun regulation working through Congress will be loaded down with and used as a vehicle for further restrictions above and beyond so-called bump stocks.

My brother in law has one of these bump stocks on an AR, what a total piece of junk. Good for making a lot of noise, burning up lots of expensive ammunition without hitting anything you're shooting at, great for pretending to be Rambo and impressing stupid kids.
This guy had LOTS of money and apparently a clean police record. He could have paid the gubmint their $200 shakedown tax, easily passed the FBI check and bought a real selective fire rifle legally.
Nothing adds up here.

The National Rifle Association said Thursday that "bump stock" devices used to fully automate rifles "should be subject to additional regulation" in light of the Las Vegas massacre that killed 58 people and injured 489 others. If this is accurate, I'm resigning my NRA life membership.
If the NRA is really a fundamental rights organization, as they tout themselves, they shouldn't be encouraging the federal government to continue exercising powers (banning firearms and accessories) it has no constitutional authorization to exercise.
Massive, counter productive stupidity.

The NRA is wrong if they go along with this BS and will regret it in the end. No more compromises, no more useless regs.
Who needs a $100 Bumpfire Stock when you can use a piece of string.
Shoestring Machine Gun & ATF Letter
This trick has been around since at least WW2 and according to some vets I knew was first used on the Garand.

Triggerfingers should be outlawed or at least tightly regulated. Perhaps they should be kept in licensed armories. The owner can check his triggerfinger out when he plans to go hunting and has all his hunting permits in order.

FWIW gun manufacturers are immune from civil suit when some whack job goes on a killing spree. However accessory manufacturers are not immune and my guess is that there will be at least 600 lawsuits filed against the bump stock manufacturer who made Paddock’s bump stocks.
You won’t have to regulate them because nobody is going to make them.
