“The U.S. refugee resettlement program aims to settle refugees in communities with others of their nationality.”

They would assimilate much quicker if they were NOT put with others of their nationality. If integration is the goal (& I know it’s not) it would be better if they had to cope with America as it is. Without being able to go to some ‘comfort zone’ with others of the same background.

What we used to desire as a melting pot, Canada embraced as a salad bowl, where ethnic integration is replaced by the communities you describe. It worked. And now, Canadians are complaining that there is no Canadian nationalism and that there is a lessened identity of being a Canadian.

Doesn’t anybody believe in consequences any more?
