Los Angeles Chargers Welcomed Another Embarrassing Crowd In Week 3
thebiglead.com ^ | September 25, 2017 | Ryan Phillips

Stop me if you’ve heard this before: the crowd at StubHub Center for a San Diego Los Angeles Chargers game was awful. A huge portion of the crowd were Kansas City Chiefs fans, and for the fourth time in four games at the stadium (including two preseason contests) there were plenty of empty seats. And just a friendly reminder, StubHub only seats 27,000.

How bad was it? Well, the Chargers knew the crowd was so pro-Chiefs that they didn’t even do player introductions over the public address system due to fears their own players would get booed. In their home stadium. In a new city the league told us was so desperate to have the NFL that it could support two teams. A city Dean Spanos said contained 25 percent of the team’s fans.

So, the “Fight for LA” is going swimmingly it appears.

Check out some of the tweets and crowd shots from the day:

This is not surprising,it is bad enough they are on a suicide mission like rocket man, but the mere fact of economics in Los Angeles is going to dictate it’s failure. Most people are Poor in LA County and only 1 or 2 weeks away from being homeless should something awful happen. it takes a salary of $109,000 just to qualify for a median priced home.

From the article:
To explain that “sellout,” remember the NFL only counts “tickets distributed” not the amount of people who go through the turnstiles. At this point it’s clear ticket brokers bought up a ton of the team’s season ticket packages hoping there would be demand for re-sale tickets. The demand isn’t there, which is why those tickets have been purchased but don’t have people in them. The brokers haven’t been able to unload those tickets on anyone.

And that's in an undesirable neighborhood for various reasons.

Trump should schedule a trip to San Diego. If Trumps wants to bash the NFL he would get a very warm welcome in San Diego.

Yes there are a lot of poor people in LA but the NFL does not target them and that’s not why they’re put 2 teams there.

The teams moved to LA because there are millions of people there who are paid very high salaries, but more importantly, there are literally thousands of businesses there which are the number one target of NFL owners. Businesses buy box seats and the bigger stadium provides for way more box seats which sell for hundreds of thousands and millions of dollars every year.

The Charger’s left San Diego because there was not enough businesses there to support buying all the box seats and many of the bushiness that bought boxes, dropped them over the years.

That’s why Spanos never supported building a new stadium in San Diego and why he left for LA.

That said, The Chargers and Rams need to win to get a following. Without putting a good product on the field, I dont think either of those teams will do well in LA.

They should have never moved from San Diego. The Rams cannot even get a quarter of the stadium filled.

I’ve been there. Like going to Dodger stadium and you’re the only one speaking English.

Dont the Rams and Chargers owners ever learn history? There’s a reason why NFL teams LEAVE L.A. and because the fans are lax and lazy. They have NO loyalty to a team that’s only been there for a year.

Maybe it is time to contract the Chargers and the Jaguars and go back to three divisions per conference. One team (Seahawks, no doubt) would have to switch conferences. But I think I have a better idea.

NFC East: Atlanta, Dallas, NY Giants, Philly, Washington,
NFC Central: Chicago, Detroit, Green Bay, Minnesota, Tampa Bay
NFC West: Arizona, L.A. Rams, Seattle, San Francisco, New Orleans

AFC East: Buffalo, Carolina, Miami, New England, NY Jets
AFC Central: Baltimore, Cincinnati, Cleveland, Indianapolis, Pittsburgh
AFC West: Denver, Houston, Kansas City, Las Vegas (Oakland), Tennessee

Carolina, btw, were the last NFC team to expand so they have the least seniority.

SubHub and Ticketmasters will be hurting when people stop buying tickets.

No team in the last decade or two has said “Oh crap, we’re playing the Chargers.”

Their next game has a giveaway of a Yawn Stifler with a lightning bolt on it. Free to the first 11,000 fans - aka everybody, with some left over.

Awesome. The NFL moves two football teams into in a city that does not support pro football. What could go wrong?

Watch the LA Galaxy out draw the Chargers.

If it looks (post 15) familiar, this is largely what the NFL used to be like with 28 and 30 teams. Tampa Bay used to be in the NFC Central. New Orleans used to be in the NFC West. Three wild cards instead of two.
