Usually, I can buy a bottle of Piesporter Michelsberg Spatlese at a retailer for $8-10, auslese for a few dollars more. It's very good wine, but doesn't have the panache of more prestigious Mosel venues, such as Urzig or Graach. I lived in Traben-Trarbach for 4 years, so I got to know the Mosel Valley well. I'm still a customer of a small winery in Briedel, Weingut Eduard Kroth, they ship to the US and their prices are exceedingly reasonable. A mixed case of Spatlese and Auslese is about $200, including shipping. Their customer service is excellent.

Here in Texas, Lubbock is developing a good reputation for Riesling. Bingham Family and Llano Estacado are two excellent wineries.

Thanks! I'll look into it. I'm drinking a nice Chilean cabernet as I write this (for medicinal purposes of course).
