We are supposed to vaca in PR on the 30th of this month. Do you think there will be power and the airports open?
Should we cancel our trip?
We will bring ice if that helps...

Glad to hear. Based on photos it looks bad but not “absolutely obliterated” as Donald Trump said. Exaggeration aside I wish you well my FRiend.

It’s no wonder there is no looting. Every window, door, or porch I ever saw in PR was already enclosed in iron bars.

So happy to hear from you.
Thanks for the report. The cleanup will be exhausting. Mother Nature, after being so bitchy, will come to the rescue and grow the leaves back on the trees, etc.
Getting the fuel/electricity flowing again (cleanup trucks, etc.) will take a bit.

We have been able to contact family in the San Juan area, (everyone OK, thank God) but no such luck with family in Aguadilla (North West tip of the island).
I have been told by folks on site that cell services is out on the west side of the island.

Thanks for the good report. I had a vaycay in Puerto Rico years ago, just a beautiful wonderful place to live. I was very tempted to move there at the time. Do hope you get ice and lots of it.
Worried about the lovely little parrots in the forest, already critically endangered....did they manage to survive?

Que bueno que estas sano y salvo. So glad!
Someone should send a message to the Trump Admin that when the POTUS visits PR & USVI, that he should bring a freighter with ice.

Why do they not have ice making equipment and generators in sturdy buildings in place now? A little planning can be helpful in situations like this.
What PR spends on welfare and corruption would have many of these in place now.

I’m glad to hear that. The Mayor of San Juan is tweeting doom and despair.

According to the Coast Guard, the ports to Puerto Rico are now open 24 hrs! This will change everything. Hope things will improve more quickly now. Your electric grid will be difficult to repair.
