The NFL Is Seriously Concerned With Empty Stadiums
MSN ^ | September 13, 2017 | Ryan Phillips

Week 1 of the NFL season had plenty of important stories worth following, but maybe the most entertaining was the mostly empty stadiums in Los Angeles and Santa Clara. Both the Los Angeles Rams and San Francisco 49ers had sparse crowds for their home openers, and that has not gone unnoticed by the NFL.

I read that it will cost around $500 a game for a family of four (including parking, four beers and four hot dogs) to attend the average NFL game.

someone should broadcast games from the 60’s and 70’s

NFL Network does just that. And you know what? It’s not that entertaining. The game is already in the books, that particular season is over, and knowing nothing is currently at stake, it’s hard to stay interested.

The NFL has gone ghetto rich and very fun poor!
The game atmosphere is charged with it anymore, and people are fed up.
Screw spoiled athletes and their privilige, and the plantation owners who think they have so much sway and with their stadiums!
Priorities are changing.

The Cowboys attendance was around 98,000, essentially sold out. The ratings were up over last year. Compare that to the LA Chargers, who couldn’t sell out a 27,000 seat soccer stadium.

My favorite bit in that scene is where the referee fires off the starter’s pistol and Hotlips screams, “My God! They’ve shot him!”

It started with players wearing pink for breast cancer

I get so sick of that. It’s virtue-signalling and pandering.

Good. Hope it’s just the beginning of a downward spiral down the toilet for the increasingly politicized NFL.

Amen.

Easy fix...Goodell should require each team to hire a transgender person instead of requiring all players stand in respect during the national anthem...

Those empty seats will fill up fast / S

Announcers - Some analyzing is good but that’s out of control too.

The worst thing that ever happened to football broadcasting on TV was when they put 3 people in the announcer's booth (this practice likely started with Monday Night Football in the days of Gifford, Meredith, and Cosell). Today's announcers talk too much, giggle too much, and many times get off topic and talk about things that aren't even related to the game that's being broadcast.

Most of the people in L.A. are illegal immigrants and poor....they can’t afford to go to a NFL game.

Where can you get a 4k signal for football?

Regarding that, I’m not really sure. The only 4k signal my set ever sees is that from the video camera on my phone. In fact, my internet video is usually 480p. I keep it at that level because we have a fairly weak signal here (again, we’re in the sticks) and that resolution is very reliable (doesn’t lock up).

I’m asking because I’d love to watch football in 4K, and regular TV for that matter. I don’t have fast enough internet, either, so 4K streaming doesn’t help me, but if there is a satellite provider that has 4k, I would consider switching. Dish does not have it, and we don’t have cable where we live.
