They allow landlords to do that in DeBlasio’s Workers paradise, NYC? Wow.
Typically blooms in the fall, but that may not be the case at Missouri’s latItude. Check with Shaw’s Garden in STL.. Plant needs to be at least 1 yr old, usually.
It’s starting to get dry here in Central Missouri.
Not much going on in the garden aside from picking tomatoes and green beans.
Spent a few more hours during the week working on the pond.
Leaving early in the AM for a badly needed vacation in sunny Pensacola Florida. At least as of now it’s supposed to be mostly sunny while we’re down there. If that hurricane doesn’t make a hard left it should be decent weather for us.
#1 Son, DiL, and two year old #1 Granddaughter are going to join us. It will be her first time going to the beach. It always makes me smile when I watch someone who’s never been to the ocean just stare in awe at the sight.
Exactly! Part of it I’m sure had to do with the “war on coal” since a significant portion of our electrical system used coal. We don’t have that much nuclear.
We have the Hanncock Amendment - new taxes have to be approved by the voters. So people just wouldn’t vote to raise taxes the electric companies wanted to build more Nuclear facilities. Not to mention the NIMBYs.
Ok. Thanks.
NIMBY’s are really into Solar and Wind power, but don’t want the acres needed for ugly solar arrays or windmills to be anywhere near them!
Well, that’s today’s NIMBY - many years ago, there was a plethora of Nuclear NIMBYs, even while they were telling us in their superior intellectual manner that Nuclear was the only way to go for future energy - petro was just too valuable for other stuff to be used to burn for fuel.
I always wondered what the heck they thought they were going to do with the waste products from nuclear.
Terrific report, greeneyes! All is well here. my sprouted turmeric root is doing well, as are my herbs.
Parsley is deeply chewed up by the baby butterflies. A few days ago, we had only two or three that we could count who were visible among the stalks. I was concerned that there was not enough there for them to be adequately fed, so I purchased 3 new little parsley plants.
When I planted them there was only one visible in the pot on the stalks. I joked to Darlin that that was my $8.00 worm! LOL!
Thank you for letting us know about Marcella! I’ve been wondering about her, even before the hurricanes.
Yucca Mountain should be renamed Yucky Mountain.
That’s where they put the stuff.
I don’t know about down in The City, but up here in the sticks that’s the deal.
Well, the entire state is liberal, but the CITY is...MARXIST!
“Healthy food and desire for additional independence got me into this gardening hobby. When the garden slows down, the homesteading/cooking ‘heats’ up.”
Exactly!
Just got back from a Garden Raid and have another two baskets of tomatoes and peppers to deal with. I’ll be making two final batches of salsa and one last batch of roasted tomato sauce...because the last batch turned out so well!
Beau is Up North at our cabin, Bear Hunting. No tag this season, so he’s guiding and assisting others and will be heading up to MI next week for more; it’s only 2 hours from where he already is. So far, one standard-sized black bear, just shy of 200# for a 17 year old girl; her first! She did a great job, one shot, one kill...which is how you’d always like it to go.
The ‘Sh#t Wagon’ is going back and forth across the house yard; the local dairy farmer who rents our crop land knows it’s time to clean out the barns before winter and add all that YUMMY manure to the crop land all around us. I sure hope the wind is blowing AWAY from the house, today, LOL!
I love fall best of all and will be stopping at a few of the FABULOUS Farmer’s Markets we have in the area for fall-ish things. I need apples and a few pumpkins for the porch and some other fun things. My porch pots are pooping out, so it’s time to refresh for fall!
Weather has been nice; high-40’s at night and low 70’s during the day; perfect, IMHO. A few area trees are starting to turn, but not too much, yet. We’ll have weeks and weeks of beautiful color ahead of us; we’ve had plenty of rain and that always results in very pretty fall colors from our native Oak, Birch and Maple.
Will be adding more lettuces and spinach, and I have turnips that still need a week or so before I pull them. Garlic is on order, and of course I’ll put in more tulip and daffodil bulbs for Spring color. I love them so much!
It’s been another great trip around the sun! The skies were so clear last week that we could see The Milky Way from our front porch. It’s such a BLESSING to live where we do. I pinch myself most days. The BEST decision I’ve ever made was taking Beau up on his proposal. It’s a lot of work but it’s a lot of fun, too.
Life Is Good! :)
Our county fair wrapped up a 9 day run on Monday of this week. Ag, FFA & 4 H are big in Humboldt County...
Trump has a huge following in Upstate. Lots of Conservatives in Upstate.
That’s good to know! :-)
Central Konnecticut - poor year for almost everything in our gardens, except we had a bumper crop of eggplant - go figure!
Well we actually got enough of everything to eat and share, but there was nothing left over to put up - that could be deadly in a different era (maybe an era to come?)
I haven't been on Freerepublic much in the last few weeks - trying to finish a couple of library books (Bleak House by Dickens - couldn't put it down).
Thanks again for the detailed report, greeneyes, and God bless you and yours.
