Jerry Jones: Cowboys Will Stand For The Flag Or “Your @ss Will Be Off The Team”
Waynee Dupree ^ | Wayne Dupree

This is why the Dallas Cowboys are my team; I love the attitude. Sure some grown immature snowflakes will call out Jerry Jones, but it’s his team, and he loves America.

Just as Jones sets requirements for his team, he expects commitment and loyalty. If he’s paying the salaries, why can’t he impose these rules on his team? If you have a problem with this, then you don’t want to be a Dallas Cowboy, or you should explore joining another team where they let you disrespect the American flag, but that won’t happen in Dallas.

I've never, ever been a Cowboy fan, but I am one now!

(Of course, I'm still not going to watch any NFL games, as my boycott of the league, which permits the disgusting dissing of so many American sacrifices made for that symbol and what it stands for, continues.)

The Cowboys, aka “America’s Team” had better stand for the American Flag or they will use their well known moniker.

If you had a Commissioner with any courage, he would just state that such actions will not be tolerated. Period end of sentence. Below is the logo of the NFL. Do the colors and stars remind you of anything similar?

I wrote to NFL headquarters last nite.

I told them that any sports team owner should have these rules for team members and politics.

Your political opinions are your own personal affair, keep them that way.

We are not the government, we are a business.

You don’t get to use the commercial time of our business for your political agenda. Take out an ad somewhere.

I don’t care what your political positions are, but if you want to take this team’s commercial time to engage in them then quit, and sell your political ad to our advertisers; maybe they’ll take it.

So, no, you cannot use this team for your personal political agendas. If you do, you’re out. No, the error is not those opinions. It’s your use of our time to promote them.

Really? I guess slapping the old girlfriend around a few times and pulling another woman’s shirt nearly off isn’t enough to anger Snake Face. He’s had no problem signing checks for drug dealing, felonious assaults, domestic abuse, sexual assaults, and shoplifting, so he’s either full of (Jerry Jones) or a bull-crapping hypocrite of biblical proportion.

Every NFL owner should be saying this.

Does the name Earl Campbell ring a bell?

FWIW, I was living in Houston and a huge Oilers fan back then.

Yes, it does. He's one of my favorite NFL players of all time, and one of the big reasons why I became a football fan (I watched a segment of TV highlights from his Heisman Trophy season at Texas, and I followed him through the NFL after that).

Houston's problem was that they had Earl Campbell, and then they had a passing game whose only purpose was to give him a rest. It's too easy for a solid defense to defend against a team like that.

Interesting historical point ...

The Texas legislature has recognized four men as Official State Heroes of Texas. Three of them were historical figures from the state's founding: Davy Crockett, Sam Houston and Stephen Austin. The fourth was Earl Campbell. Like Bum Phillips said ... "The Houston Oilers are Texas' Team!" LOL.

Feel free to beat your wife or stab a teammate in the neck though....

(Michael Irvin once legit stabbed a teammate in the neck over a haircut).

The Seahawks are probably the most politically engaged team in the league.

They’ve done pretty well in recent years.

Well, they have obviously blackballed Kaepernick. At worst, he’s maybe the 25th or 30th best quarterback on the planet right now. And he can’t get a job.

But he seems to be a special case.

They wouldn’t do this to Richard Sherman.

They haven’t won anything since they began publicly supporting Colin Kaepernick, have they?

Thank you, Jerry. It’s too late, since the Commissioner disagrees with you - but thanks, anyway.

Jerry made this comment about his players some time ago. And then the Commissioner suspended his star running back for six games for an act he was never criminally charged with and which may or may not have happened long before he became a Cowboy.

But I'm sure it's a coincidence.

Teams can cut a player for any reason good, bad or indifferent. They have to honor their contracts but they do not have to keep them on the team.

Not surprised Jones said this. The Dallas Cowboys are easily the most valuable brand in the NFL and such protests will result in potential boycotts by season ticket holders and especially stadium suite holders, which will lower the value of the team.
