Bannon didn't bother to go to work yesterday. He knew it was over.
At the end, Trump was beyond fed up, viewing Bannon as a self-aggrandizer who had built a personal narrative as the grand puppetmaster.
"Who the f**k does this guy think he is?" Trump has said incredulously to associates.
Axios' Jonathan Swan tells me it's no surprise Trump didn't issue a farewell message on Friday: The president can't stand Bannon at the moment. (Trump tweeted a belated "Thanks S" about Bannon on Saturday morning.)
But few people are ever really gone from Trumpworld, and we bet it won't be long before Bannon is regularly gossiping with Trump and counseling him.

We elected Trump President. And Bannon was made an advisor. But every time Bannon did not get his way he subverted the White House. Trump let Bannon in every meeting and he listened to Bannon. But whenever he chose against Bannon, Bannon would go behind his back to the press. Bannon needed to learn that we could not have two presidents. I don’t know if Trump always makes the right decision, but if Bannon wants to be president he should run, not hide in the weeds and whisper thinks to people.

Slightly different take. Anyone who knows Steve knows that he is not a nuts and bolts, detail guy. He is a big picture, action, visionary.
“THAT” part of the presidency is indeed over. Trump has all the vision he needs. He probably still has Bannon’s “white board” someplace. He doesn’t need daily reminding to build the wall, get tax cuts, eliminate regulations.
Indeed, there is an article today that DC is fearful cuz he isn’t even spending the money Congress is allocating, and they are allocating less in every area except defense. Trump ordered 10% across the board cuts everywhere.
So no, “that” part of the Trump presidency is well in hand.
Bannon is not suited to reading reams of briefs, and fighting over budget lines. Having him in such a position is a waste of time and energy.
In a military sense, it’s sort of like after Midway. Once we had the Japanese Navy badly crippled, then came the slog. Even with “island hopping,” it was brutal, bloody, but there was never, ever any question who would win. Bannon’s the guy who figured out where the Japanese fleet was.
Just silly, and Bannon would tell you so, as he told me just two weeks ago in the EEOB. He and McMaster have differences of opinion, THAT’S ALL. “McMaster,” he said, “has done a lot of good things.”
Trump didn’t “side” with Ivanka dn the “coup minded generals.”

No one “leaked” it. Someone is lying and made up s*** and Axios put it on their website. Probably an Axios ie former Politico “journalist” made it up, the one who wrote the article most likely.
