Guests flying out of the Slidell Municipal Airport Sunday morning got a bit of a surprise when a pickup truck, not a plane, was spotted driving erratically on the runway.
The Slidell Police Department said witnesses saw John Robertson, 49, of Kilmichael, Mississippi, drive his 1995 GMC Sierra truck onto the runway and started doing "donuts" before eventually getting stuck in a ditch nearby just before noon.
Officers spoke to Robertson about the incident, and he told them he was "just being stupid." SPD said Robertson was placed under arrest for reckless operation of a motor vehicle and taken to the Slidell City Jail.

It would be interesting to know what the Mississippi motor vehicle code says.
About reckless driving some codes say on a roadway ect.
Is the run way a roadway were actual lives endangered.
An airport isn’t a DMV-regulated motorway.
People do well over 100 mph on the local municipal airport taxiways driving to and from the hangars.
Not exactly safe, but def not illegal.

So one needs the exact wording of the statue to know if it was a legit charge in Mississippi.
