The SAS is trialling a Star Wars-style helmet that detects enemies and repels flames and bullets.

Troops have nicknamed the equipment the “Boba Fett” helmet after the Star Wars bounty hunter, who wore a similar-looking piece of gear in the hit films.

The Devtac Ronin Kevlar Level IIIA Tactical Ballistic Helmet can repel bullets from an AK47, bomb shrapnel and fire.

The high-tech piece of kit also includes air-conditioning to protect from heat and gases and a device that picks up signals from other wearers to establish whether they are a “friend or foe”.

If we have to make star wars comparisons, it looks more like a General Grevious helmet than a Boba Fett helmet.

Doesn’t look like Boba Fett to me. Paint it green, and it looks kinda like a Minecraft creeper.

At least it’s not modeled after stormtrooper armour. That stuff couldn’t deflect a spit wad.
