GEORGETOWN, SC (WMBF) – A London-based steel company is planning to reopen the old ArcelorMittal steel mill in Georgetown.

A news conference was held Wednesday afternoon to address the potential reopening of the mill by Liberty House Group. The company operates steel and aluminum factories in the United Kingdom, Middle East and Asia.

Previously, the city had considered a mixed-use development on the site after it closed in 2015.

They couldn’t have done this during the previous administration?? Sounds like pure racism to me!

Kinda like a welder. ONLY BIG. Dump the scrap metal in it and close the electrodes close together I guess.

OK, so the scrap is the ground and the rods are the element. Pretty simple really.

But the power to run those things! I bet the generators at the power plants really grunt when they kick the juice to it.

***Dump the scrap metal in it and close the electrodes***

I used to work in a power plant, and every time a steel company electrodes were fired our plant instruments and equipment went crazy! It was jump and run all night long because our equipment lagged about three minutes behind each electrode firing.
