I know you think Guy Fieri is just a day-old Hot Pocket filled with Smash Mouth lyrics, but what if he’s actually good? This is the fundamental premise behind comedian Shane Torres’s definitive defense of the Mayor of Flavortown. And now you can hear it, too, as we are happy to premiere the track from Torres’s debut stand-up album, Established 1981. But wait, you heard the food at Guy’s American Kitchen & Bar isn’t as good as at Le Bernardin? Grow up! And listen. And learn why you would rather be stuck in a foxhole with Guy “It’s pronounced Fietti” Fieri than Anthony “human black-T-shirt collection” Bourdain.

I can’t get it on my phone or my Mac. Sounds interesting though. I find Fieri mostly entertaining, while Bourdain is boring, pompous, lackluster and a flaming lib.

Bourdain is a pretentious prig
Guy is from around here.
He made his rep with ‘johnny Garlic’s’ Good pasta at a decent price, excellent flavors and always at any good cause fundraiser. Then he opened a weird, but good sushi meets barbeque joint. The real deal, I’ve eaten at his places a few times; interesting food, and plenty of it, for decent money. Don’t watch the TV stuff...
Bourdain wrote one really good book, ‘Kitchen Confidential’, totally realistic and anyone who has ever worked food knows it’s the real deal; he paid his dues and writes pretty well; he’s pissed because he knows he’s NEVER going to write something as good. His TV schtick was cool at the time, he was kind of one of the first to go to odd places and eat the most disgusting/spicy/weird food anyone had seen. On politics he’s a pretentious nitwit, but in terms of cooking Bourdain’s paid dues that few other ‘TV’ types have.
I put Guy one notch above his best bud, Robert Irvine.
Robert is a legend in his own mind. Chef gig didn’t work out.
He has a Jerry Springer style TV show now.
