Squeeful floofs!

Another night when I was up more than asleep because I couldn’t breathe. I should have been ready for it, because the lawn guys were here yesterday, blowing dust around, and even though I had a mask, I obviously inhaled more than my share.
There was a maintenance man that I just really didn’t like because he always talked down to women, trying to make us all feel inadequate and stupid. I blew it off as just another bully and felt sorry for his wife. Luckily, he was assigned to another property and we didn’t have to deal with him very often.
It seems that his POV was found inside the maintenance gate of one of the other properties over a weekend, and it shouldn’t have been there, because there are two men who are On Call for nights, weekends and holidays.
Come to find out from some of the residents there, this particular guy was in the apartment of a man who was in hospice, and Mike-the-Maintenance-Guy shouldn’t have been on the property at all.
Several of the residents called the office after Christmas or commented to that property manager that Mike was there for almost three hours, and wondered if he had some specific reason for being in the tenant’s apartment. Mike said the guy had given him permission, and they wanted to know when that had happened.
Mike said it was on Tuesday, and the Suits said, “Mike. He didn’t give you permission on Tuesday because he died on Monday. Now, you have a choice: Resign or be fired.” Mike tried to talk his way around it but they were firm so he resigned.
Come to find out, he has ingratiated himself into a couple of residents’ lives over the years and ended up being given houses at the deaths of said residents. He was setting the scene up to do it again. It’s how he got one of the houses he has here in Old Town.
Because of his shenanigans, he had to quit with 26 years instead of 30 and forfeits his vacation and sick leave pay-outs. But I told Carlos Mike could always sell one of his houses if times were tight.
And best of all, Carlos is going to find me a stove and just swap it out rather than try to repair it. But that’s between he and I because Casey wanted him to fix it for the 5th time.
We only have half of the security lights working but that’s better than none.
