Some are more scared of an unknown than they are of the voters.
Those office holders who are sitting on their hands are more in fear of the money people than they are of the wrath of the voters.
Term limits would at least force the money people to shift support to different people every few years, and lessen the reliance for seniority to become a factor in retaining an incumbent.
Vote the rascals out. The new rascals just do not have as much seniority.
