Longtime Steyn readers will be familiar with the demographic thesis of his 2006 international bestseller America Alone: The End of the World as We Know It. Almost the entire developed world is mired in deathbed demography from which no functioning society has ever recovered.

Mark's book was a big success a decade ago. But it is a melancholy fact that most people in the western world remain entirely unaware of this remorseless arithmetic or its likely consequences. So this brand new SteynPost is a kind of primer on demographic trends, and where they lead.

Easy way to end that- Anyone on welfare who has ANOTHER child is an unfit mother and ALL her children are taken away and her welfare REDUCED.

Plus, any woman who does not name the father does not receive welfare- the father AS PROVEN FROM DNA SAMPLE ONLY is forced to pay child support or go to a work farm to earn the money supporting his children.

Yep, and another factor is that men don't tend to dedicate and even give up their lives to children unless they are their children in every sense of the word. We now have a society where a man can be removed from "his" children at any time by the simple whim of the mother - though their obligation to continue to dedicate their lives to their now absent children through child support payments continues. No wonder at all why many men, and especially the smarter ones, are choosing not to procreate.

I'll give it a try...

The population of much of the countries of the developed world is shrinking to an extrapolation of extinction because "modernist" views are that it's best to have no children or be gay. Muslim countries and impoverished Africa are exceptions.

Much of the developed world has incorporated the Ponzi scheme of the young paying for the old (ie. Social Security). But at some point the young Muslim population will refuse to pay for the old and there won't be enough people left to withstand the worldwide Muslim jihad.

So far, America "stands alone" in this scenario.

I have read it. It is brilliant. He does the mathematical projections of the birth rates among developed Western nations vs. the much higher and welfare-assisted birthrates among third-world immigrants to those nations, and concludes that the developed West has committed suicide. It’s only going to take a few more years as today’s children grow up for the West actually to expire.

This would explain the sudden demand that we accept ‘refugees’ because a stupid government problem usually calls for a stupid government solution.

Facts are facts and numbers don’t lie. This is very different than statistics.

Statistically your car will last a good 20 years if you take care of it- but if you are driving straight towards a cliff, then that FACT changes what the statistics predict. Your car is only going to last a few more seconds.

Steyn aimed his thesis about population replacement more at Europe than America; hence his title America Alone -- because once Europe is islamicized, (it seems to be at its tipping point now) -- we will be the only Western nation standing in the northern hemisphere. Canada is going off the deep end with muslim immigration, also. So we will be the last major Western nation standing. Bear in mind, he wrote it almost ten years ago before the Obama-Jarrett-Clinton infloods.

The Bible talks about the final war to end all wars...

It talks about wave after wave of men - sounds like millions. I cannot see this happening by boat over an ocean.

There is only one country that has millions of men like that... China.

They are not going to quietly let themselved be taken over by the muzzies.

You can see it now- when muzzies attack they respond with vengeance. When 4 muzzies tried to take over an aircraft, the passengers beat 3 of them to death.

There is a video right now of two trying to chop peoples heads off with a hatchet - the other patrons chase them with long swords- I am not sure if they suvived.

So, the final war starts... and then China sends wave after wave to the middle east, and kills all military aged men- they have a shortage of women, you know... this would help that problem
