Nowhere in the law says a judge can call you names. If you think that is okay what will you think when a judge starts cursing from the bench? This “sit down and shut up and do what your told by authority figures” is what leads a police state. A good cop should never be abusive. Nor should a judge. If you want my respect, show me some respect.
What this woman did got her some jail time and I can understand that. But it was escalated by the judge.
The law doesn’t say the judge can’t call you names. I believe cops and judges should stop being abusive when criminals stop being abusive.
The problem in this country is not the law. It’s the criminals.
I don’t know but it seems the judge had seen something in this case set him off on these two individuals, something they had done to their child. Who knows what it was but it set the judge off. So we don’t have all the facts, he did.
If you are in a courtroom you will sit down and shut up if the judge tells you too. If you don’t you pay the price. If you want to get into a pissing contest with a police officer on a traffic stop or a judge in his court room you will lose every time in that setting. You go to the officers supervisor and get an attorney involved after the event. In the case of a judge you have the same options, but taking them on in their domain is always a losing proposition.
As for respect, whatever these to so-called parents had done they had blown all respect the judge had for them. The judge escalated and she reacted like a thug and paid the price. The husband shut his mouth, got his butt chewed out and walked out the door with a much better judgement.
