In 1972, we were being told that in the future we were all going to starve to death because food production was not going to keep up with the "population explosion." Now that we are in the "future," and the population has risen substantially, we find that 30% of the
world - not just the USA - is
overweight. Where there are food shortages, they can be easily traced to war or authoritarian governments.
Another leftist prediction bites the dust. We should bear that in mind when thinking about "global warming."
