California is the poster child for solar energy: in 2016, 13% of the state's power came from solar sources. According to the Solar Energy Industries Association, California is in the lead for the cumulative amount of solar electric capacity installed in 2016.

In fact, the California is generating so much solar energy that it is resorting to paying other states to take the excess electricity in order to prevent overloading power lines. According to the Los Angeles Times, Arizona residents have already saved millions in 2017 thanks to California’s contribution.

Yeah, the ‘Yay! Solar! Yay! Renewable!” propaganda is nauseating due to several factors that honestly should be self evident.
Solar produces nothing at night, only works in areas of sun with few clouds, takes up space, and if it shorts out and burns it produces toxic smoke and will kill you if you try to put it out with water.
Not to mention the rare earths that need to be mined to manufacture them, the cost of the energy used to manufacture them, etc etc.
Such a deal!
(A nuclear plant has a smaller physical footprint and produces far more power at a vastly higher efficiency. But, that would be admitting that so called renewables are more of a scam than anything else.)

California is doing great. Best state in the union. Businesses are flourishing, people are fleeing other states to go, the cost of living is amazingly affordable.

They use to pay other states for electricity so they could claim they were reducing their carbon footprint.

Are they still doing that?

Wrll, the key here, is that they pay, not sell. Seriously, with their massive deficit even selling would be a more wise move than paying to take it.

Ah, I see. It's a grammar problem. You move the period left, place it right after the word country.

Every Kilowatt of energy generated by Solar Panels costs more than five times that generated by combustion. If greenies really cared about carbon they would champion nuclear energy as it is the cleanest form of power and generates zero carbon emissions.

Nothing more dangerous than Leftist ignorance.

It’s don’t embarrass me at all. I don’t live in a hot, sweltering desert wasteland. And with their oppressive laws, they can KEEP it.

Solar energy is NOT why California is embarrassing the rest of America!

California is a net energy importer...

Also in the middle of a heat wave (highest production of solar energy) California calls for conservation.

How about we all put solar powered water heaters on our roofs. That would greatly reduce our carbon footprints.

There is also a lot of pollution from their production.

Bingo.

So, why is California griping about a heat wave! Think of all that electricity that could be used for A/C at ball parks and such!

When the wind blows. Conventional plants are still on “hot standby” to cover the troughs. All this does is amount to grid destabilization.
