There are buffalo's on Catalina island. I was a Sea Scout in Long Beach and spent many weekends on the Island, we often walked past them as they were grazing. We viewed them just was we would cows and never had an incident.

I think the Island Buffalo's though were pretty tame.

The times we went to Yellowstone I was amazed at the dipships that would run off with a camera chasing all kind of dangerous wildlife trying I guess to get a selfie with one. I always thought “Darwin principle at work”.

There’s a beach in NC on the Outer Banks with no paved roads, where the wild horses aren’t penned and still run free. It’s become a very popular destination. The law requires people to stay a minimum of 50 feet away with very stiff penalties, $500.00. But, further up the coast there is another herd and apparently the rules aren’t quite so restrictive. Tourists who get carried away get their butts kicked, apparently with some regularity. Me, I wouldn’t want to get curb stomped by a horse on sand or anywhere else, lol.
