obviously most parents agree with you now, and thus why so many kids have issues.
humans have spent our entire existence outside until AC was invented. I will never be convinced that exposure to the sun regularly year round in modest amounts while moving is bad for you.
What is bad for you is to avoid the sun... then go out suddenly in the middle of summer (with no base tan) and lay motionless for hours during the hottest part of the day. THAT is a recipe for disaster.
Most of our history people didn’t live long enough to get cancer. Also few white people lived in hot climates.
the worst sunburns I have ever gotten were during snow skiing. The sun reflects off the snow.
My point is that if one stays outside year round ... one builds up a natural tan gradually and naturally that protects you. Now common sense must be used and one must avoid the sun during the hottest parts of the day, just as one would naturally were there no air conditioning.

Two of my kids broke bones-——and they were born in the 60s———none of my grandchildren have, and they were born in the 90s.
Happened to my brother when he was 14. No more sports.
