Thank you. I think we agree on about 95% of what's behind this story. I've seen how this works from both the player's side and the team's side, so I have a different perspective than most.

I played on two amateur hockey teams that had corporate sponsors. I hated one of the sponsors for reasons that were far less serious than this, but I knew that they would dictate the terms because they put up the money.

In this case, I commend the player wholeheartedly but I simply don't see it as "persecution." In an avenue of life (women's sports) that is notorious for being filled with lesbians anyway, I would expect this kind of dilemma pretty much comes with the territory and, frankly, really should be anticipated by anyone who gets involved in it.

One would hope that national teams would wear jerseys bearing some combination of the national colors. In the case of the USA, those colors are red, white and blue.

It’s soccer, dude. I don’t think anyone cares what colors they wear. LOL.

You don't know how national teams work, do you? Their jerseys change all the time.

They casually and routinely change their team's official trademarked colors while engaging in competition with other teams, do they?

You can be a gay apologist all you want, but I will underscore for readers that you yourself just referred to the Black and Gold colors that are commonly identified with the Penguin's jerseys, and implied that it would be unseemly to have colors other than these to represent them (never mind how such a thing impacts licensing and trademark issues -- unless you somehow reserved and registered the colors of the Homo-Penguin jersey for use on designated occasions).

Put up or shut up time: can you name a team of national prominence other than this sad example where it was decided to do away with the team's official colors and change the color of the team's official playing jerseys to rainbow colors for the expressed purpose of supporting and showing solidarity with with faggots?

Put up or shut up time: can you name a team of national prominence other than this sad example ...

This isn't a team of national prominence. It doesn't even play a SPORT of national prominence.

They casually and routinely change their team's official trademarked colors while engaging in competition with other teams, do they?

Yes.

Let's take a quick look at Team Canada, for example -- one of the finest and most successful amateur hockey programs in history. The images I've posted below are just from the last 15 years -- and they only include cases where the national teams were playing in prominent international tournaments, not meaningless exhibition games.

We have the national team from the 2014 Winter Olympics -- with home/away colors plus a "third jersey" that these teams began using for historical commemoration or simply to enhance merchandise sales:

How about the World Junior Championships in 2012?

Here is the women's team from the 2010 Winter Olympics:

Here's my favorite version of Team Canada's jersey in recent decades, from the 2009 World Junior Championships:

Oh, looky here ... a dark green version from the 2009 World Juniors:

A different look from the 2008 World Junior Championships:

The color scheme was different for the 2007 Women's World Championships. It may not be easy to see this, but in addition to the blue trim the red has been replaced by pink in this version:

Nice jerseys and Katie Kouric - style selective editing you did there, but you completely failed the challenge.

Thanks for playing.

Strike 2. You evidently didn't read the headline of the article you linked to: "Few pro teams wear LGBT-pride unis"

The challenge I posed was: "Put up or shut up time: can you name a team of national prominence other than this sad example where it was decided to do away with the team's official colors and change the color of the team's official playing jerseys to rainbow colors for the expressed purpose of supporting and showing solidarity with with faggots?"

When one finds their argument approaching the bottom of the hole most smart people stop digging.

Perhaps we can re-engage this conversation when you beloved Penguins change their official jerseys to rainbows for the purpose of celebrating faggotocracy.

Until then, thanks for playing

Maybe I just don't understand what the hell you were asking for.

1. The title of the article indicates that few teams wear LGBT-pride uniforms, not that no teams wear them. It then cited a number of examples of teams of national prominence (in other countries) that did -- including the German national team in the 2014 Winter Olympics (is that not a team of national prominence?).

2. I'm not sure why the "national prominence" aspect of this even matters. The U.S. national women's soccer team isn't even a team of national prominence. If this story wasn't in the news, most people in this country wouldn't have a clue that the women's national soccer team was even playing games this month. I'm as big a sports fan as you'll find out there, and I couldn't even name two women who play for this team, how good the team is, or even when they are scheduled to play an international tournament of any kind.

3. I have no idea what my "beloved Penguins" means. I'm not a Penguins fan.

I was in a large city choir back in the ‘80s. I dropped out because one of the concert pieces was “Ave Maria” and singing it was mandatory. I didn’t make a big stink about it - - just dropped out.

For this athlete, though, her career and income are at stake. She might have a case for a lawsuit. My participation was strictly volunteer. Most of us make principle-based choices in life.

My career did suffer when I refused to attend a “commitment” ceremony (wedding) for two lesbians in our organization. My boss, the HR Director, told us we had to attend. No way. I didn’t get written up or anything but I was treated differently - and not in a good way - from then on. I took early retirement because it was so bad.

You make excellent points.

But you can’t argue with someone whose “logic” is based on emotion.

This is why it’s impossible to “win” an argument with a liberal. They don’t think, they feel.
