Also, very dangerous making rope from sheets. Better know your knots. Even better: steel fire escape ladders. True. BUT... can Fedex get them delivered before these people die of smoke inhalation ?

These poor unfortunate souls are grasping at straws and trying to think of anything that might work.
Few trained athletes would be strong enough to descend an actual rope, to even descend several stories, to meet an awaiting ladder.
Nevermind with flames, debris, and shattering glass lapping at them. How completely frightening.
