If you decide to save seed from your quinoa, do your best to keep the lambsquarters from flowering. They WILL cross.

Thanks for the heads-up! I will definitely keep that in mind. I would probably end up bagging a few heads to save for seed, because the lamb’s quarters are prolific enough that snipping flowers is not really an option. (well, I COULD, if I made it a full-time job...)

Hey everyone!

I thinned out my “stash” of older seeds, so I have a LOT of packages, even some unopened, of various different vegs. Some few packages date to ‘09, most are a few years newer.

I don’t know if all are still viable, but likely a percentage of most packages are. There are a lot of heirloom seeds too, as I try to plant heirloom whenever possible.

Also a bunch of pepper seeds saved from my hubbys plants.

I have packed them into a USPS envelope and will mail it out to the FIRST PERSON WHO SENDS ME A PRIVATE MESSAGE REQUEST.

No charge for the seeds or the shipping, I only ask that these go to someone who will actually use them.

And once someone asks for the seeds I will put a notice up on this thread.

Caladiums finally sending up shoots. Lilies might be blooming in the next two days. Severely pruned back the miniature roses. Snapdragons and dianthus flowering profusely. Tomato flowers slowly being replaced with tiny green tomatoes and eggplant loaded with flowers.

OK my Freeper gardening brothers and sisters I finally have some pictures. Our biggest surprise this year has been our red romaine. I tried it because our regular paris cos did not come up well and I found this flat of 8 seedlings. It's delicious and is forming beautiful heads. We have picked a few already and I cut them off with a scissors just above the ground and the heads are growing new leaves! I do have a row of paris cos coming up.

Garden is about 6 1/2 feet by 60 feet. Raised bed and the soil is deep and rich and has good drainage so we squeeze a lot in

our first radishes, absolutely love them. Also eating a yellow one from the Ukraine which is my favorite.

We basically have asparagus at the far end, lettuces, red onions, oregano, cilantro, dill, a volunteer melon, kitchen king green beans, broccoli, some head lettuce, tomatoes, peppers, basil, busk pickles, pea pods, cucamelon, Chinese long beans, baby bok choi. photo IMG_3377.jpg

Also some big pots up around the house, more tomatoes, peppers, green onions, here are just 5 of them

my absolute favorite peony "bowl of beauty"

a big surprise was a golden chain tree, planted over 25 years ago and this year it bloomed, had 25 or so flower chains

also have some more pictures to take yet maybe tomorrow. I'm talking older digital camera, put onto desktop, upload to photobucket and then link to FR. Dinosaur I know.

Nice pictures! My Red Romaine has been fabulous this season, too! Today is the day when I deal with the lettuces! I always plant WAY too much - but they’re all so pretty! I’m posting pix right now on THIS weeks (June 17th) thread. Come see!

I will, and I’ll take a pic of the new leaves coming out out the old romaine heads. I just cut the top off with a shears.
