I have a friend who has to be sedated.
I am so claustrophobic I used to have to be completely out for an MRI. Now our city has 2 “open MRI’s” and I request one. No problems.

That's funny, because I just took pot.
It helped.
Lavender has a component (from a class of chemicals called "terpenes") called Linalool that has been shown to have a calming effect, which is why it helps folks like the OP. Turns out pot also has Linalool.
its a magnetic field not “radiation”. In fact if your depressed or OCD an MRI can help relieve symptoms. Lastly if you need another MRI look for a 3T unit, much higher resolution and much faster 10min vs 40min
Been diagnosed with degenerative disk disease. From the neck to upper back. Not a happy camper right now. Tryimg to take care of my family and older parents.

little things matter...
if one is severely claustrophobic, you can ask for conscious sedation...its more expensive, more time consuming...
I had a stereotactic breast biopsy several months ago...
the guys that think this stuff up must be sadistic...
you lie on a table with your boob sticking down thru a hole and the whole table is lifted so the doc can come underneath you and stick a long needle in, then do a bx and then place a little tiny marker...
sounds sadistic doesn't it?...
however, they gave me a 1.5mg dose of Xanax before hand...never had it before....
I slept thru the whole thing and didn't feel anything....
I think the noises are moving magnets.
I can take 1/8 of a .25 Xanax and it will knock me out. I had a root canal and it put me to sleep. Benadryl does the same thing to me. I can take 1/2 a children’s Benadryl and it knocks me out. I am 6’ 1 1/2” 225+. I’ve heard some people can take up to 10 mg Xanax in a day. I don’t believe I would ever come out of that.
