Mary Kay has always seemed like an extremely needy, clinging vine type of woman. Self centered too, as I recall it. I believe she already had three or four children with her then-husband.
She simply ‘discarded’ her family role with them and walked away. It made HER feel good, so what’s the problem?

Actually, it does sound bright. It sounds like he knows it isn’t a good idea to do what he did. Learning from mistakes isn’t a sign of not being bright.
