The Best Album of All Time. Thats one hell of a claim.
Even if The Beatles eighth studio album, Sgt. Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band -- released 50 years ago, May 26, 1967, in the U.K. -- is the musically ground-breaking, hyper influential career high-water mark from The Best Band of All Time, those can still sound like fighting words. But theres no hyperbole here. Theres widespread consensus: Sgt. Peppers has topped its fair share of Greatest Albums of All Time lists

As a fan of Bill Evans, I would go with “Sunday at the Village Vanguard.”
Last album that I listened to before I went to Ft. Benning for Basic.
I am a huge Beatles fan and the "best album" is so subjective just as who the best singer was: Paul, John or even George.
For the so called "concept" album Sgt. Pepper's is one of the best of all time.
And I didn’t think Pete had a song like “Sunrise” in him. Supposedly he wrote it for his mum.
No.
I despise FM. Any song from that album guarantees I change the station.

Radiohead - “The Bends”
For a song that has not passed the test of time it sure seems to get played regularly.
Paranoid by Black Sabbath
Days of Future Passed was much, much better than Sgt. Pepper’s.
Highky overrated album. The Beatles pinnacle for me is Rubber Soul and Revlover.
The album that influenced Sgt Peppers, the Beach Boys Pet Sounds, is a much better record.
Once one of the Beatles (John IIRC) was asked if Ringo was the best drummer in the world. His reply was he wasn’t even the best drummer in the Beatles.
Yes,we’re going to be in Liverpool this year.
Paul may have been the best drummer AND guitarist in the Beatles.
I heard it a couple of days ago for the first time in a long time. It sounded stale and mediocre at that time.
Certainly one of the more, uh, interesting covers of the day!
Agree - and a good amount of hard rock on it, too.
(But best album of all time is "The Allman Brothers Live at Fillmore East")
An impossible question. But I’d go with “Low Spark of High Heeled Boys” by Traffic over Sgt Peppers. I didn’t care for the Beatles much and thought Peppers sort of OK but couldn’t understand the raving about it. Paul said he was largely inspired by the Beach Boys “Pet Sounds”.
It’s like the Oscars. There is no such thing as best actor or best movie any more than there could be a best renaissance painting. Beauty is truly in the eye of the beholder. The best movie of 2004 was Team America, but it’s political stance meant it could never win an award.
Fidelio is awful. Too bad LvB never figured out how to write for the human voice....
