I would agree except he blew it in the most crucial time at Gettysburg. I think America’s greatest battlefield General is a toss up between Sherman, Patton, Stonewall Jackson and Andrew Jackson with Lee, McArthur, Grant close behind.

Wellington said that Scott’s campaign from Vera Cruz to Mexico City was one of the greatest feats of generalship he had ever seen. Remember this man fought Napoleon!
Another forgotten American general whose victory with a pitifully small army secured a vast territory. Should be the icon of military special operations - George Rogers Clark!
