I loved him as “The Saint” but he was a terrible James Bond.

I liked him as Bond at the time, but the movies didn't age well. I was in the minority, but I liked him better as Bond than Sean Connery, even though my favorite Bond movie (until recently) was one with Connery (You Only Live Twice).
