Have a better idea, put a dunce cap on her head during the school year. Oh her poor feelings these nuts are saying. Well wait till her employer fires her for not paying attention.

I would say the kid that does not pay attention to indoctrination by libtard mind screwers is actually given an award for high honors.

... the two teachers who handed out the award will not be back at Memorial Middle School, or returning to any Rockdale public school.

Does this mean suspension-with-pay until they retire on full pension, or makework jobs at the district headquarters?

It kindof depends on 1) what kind of ADHD it is, and 2) what the job is.

Some ADHD folks thrive in certain types of jobs.

I am one of those people who got the ADHD label and would prefer that they leave me out of it.

I guess publicly shaming someone with a disability is acceptable to you, so sad.

Some kids, even middle schoolers are grounded enough to see the light hearted humor in such a label, depending on how it was expressed.

Didn’t others have yearbooks with students getting silly titles, such as ‘Most Likely to be rich before age 30’, or Most likely to be chased by ducks at a picnic’.
These remarks were mild teasing, not meant to be serious indictments.
It’s very likely this student in question DID NOT pay attention in class, and it was a well known fact in that classroom’.

Did they give a kid in a wheelchair the “most likely not to run in a marathon” award? Why are they giving awards for negative reasons anyway?

This was a vehicle for the school district to fire these two teachers.

I would bet dollars to donuts they were encouraged by higher ups to “have fun” and give the award to the kid, and it would be viewed by the school staff as “funny”.

I think the school wanted these teachers gone.

Not defending the teachers but schools keep on teachers that are perverts and do far, far, far worse things that hand out awards that people would be bowling over at a celebrity roast.

I would bet the teachers are straight white males. They don’t say in the story.

I have ADHD. It made medical school...interesting.

But, if my wonderful K-12 teachers hadn't stayed on my ass about it, I never would have discovered all the workarounds I would need later.

If I had been labeled with a "disability", and treated with kid gloves, I would never have gotten into college, never mind having a medical career.

"Have a better idea, put a dunce cap on her head during the school year. "

I used to be an unbeliever of this whole ADHD/Autism thing -- until our youngest came around. It's real, and it's a difficult thing for a child to deal with.

There's a real epidemic of this going around, and I firmly believe it's related to the explosion of anti-depressant use, primarily in women. My wife became hooked on these things by her doctor several years back. She was going through a tough time and doctors are pushing these drugs like crazy. When she became pregnant, the doctor told her not to stop, as the withdrawal would be difficult during her pregnancy. Our son now has demonstrable difficulties in school, and is struggling to keep his head above water.

Now before you go thinking this is a parenting problem: Just this past week our oldest son and daughter graduated from Purdue University. One has a degree in Astronautical Engineering, and the other has a degree in Biomedical Engineering. Both were carried by my wife prior to her anti-depressant use.

This is a very serious problem in our country right now. Many people are blaming vaccines for Autism and ADHD, but I truly believe that the real evil are anti-depressant drugs. And the pharma companies will continue to allow us to believe that the problems are vaccine-related, because if we ever discovered the truth, it would truly kill their golden goose.

I have a son who would have been eligible for that award————40 years ago.

He would have treasured the award and hung it on his wall.

School was a place where we had lots of laughs back in my day - and teachers gave us similar “awards” all the time.

Libtards have turned the schools into concentration camps with no humor allowed. Glad I’m not there anymore.

ANOTHER REASON TO HOMESCHOOL

This ping list is for the other articles of interest to homeschoolers about education and public school. This can occasionally be a fairly high volume list. Articles pinged to the Another Reason to Homeschool List will be given the keyword of ARTH. (If I remember. If I forget, please feel free to add it yourself)

The main Homeschool Ping List handles the homeschool-specific articles. I hold both the Homeschool Ping List and the Another Reason to Homeschool Ping list. Please freepmail me to let me know if you would like to be added to or removed from either list, or both.
