Todd Rundgren: ‘If You’re a Trump Supporter, Don’t Come to My Show’
Breitbart News ^ | 14 May 2017 | Daniel Nussbaum

Todd Rundgren isn’t bothered that some of his fans might avoid his concerts due to his politics. The 68-year-old musician and record producer conceded as much in an interview with Variety when asked about an incident in which a couple walked out of a concert in Los Angeles due to comments he made about President Donald Trump.

“No,” Rundgren said when asked if it bothered him. “I’d say: If you’re a Trump supporter, don’t come to my show, because you won’t have a good time. And also, I don’t understand your frickin’ values. Because I’m not singing about that. If you don’t understand that basic thing, you’re just fooling yourself.”

Rundgren is currently on a cross-country tour, with multiple dates in Florida and Texas, states that Trump won during the 2016 campaign. But the musician told Variety that Trump supporters “will likely be offended” if they attend his concerts.

“Let the buyer beware! I mean, if you can’t take a joke, or you can’t admit that you’ve made a mistake, you don’t belong with the rest of us,” he said with a laugh.

Elsewhere in the interview, Rundgren explained that music is the most “plagiaristic” art when compared with other forms, because there are only so many ways musicians can arrange a limited amount of notes together.

“You’ve got the western 12-tone scale. That’s essentially 11 notes. So you’re eventually going to run out of melodies, just by the pure mathematics of it,” he said. “So the whole art of making music is trying to obscure the fact that this is a melody from another song and has just been changed in subtle enough ways that you don’t recognize it.”

When Bebe Buell was pregnant, Todd stepped up and helped raise her, and continued to do so even after he learned that her biological father was Steven Tyler.

He did right by his daughter, even though he didn't provide the sperm.

OK, Thanks.

I suspected wrong, based on the musical note limit thing.

I did later read of his work with groups and songs I have heard and enjoyed.

But now he has kind of spoiled that for me.

Utopia’s Princess of the Universe me likey

I've always like Utopia (v2.) Their music was very catchy and interesting pop. In addition to "Princess," I'm a big fan of "Feet Don't Fail Me Now." Utopia v1 was pretty series & edgy progressive and innovative music (plus I just liked the idea of a band with a guy named "M. Frog Labatt.)

His solo work was for me, hit or miss, but always inventive in interesting. "Something/Anything" and "Acapella" have always been my favorite solo works by him.

I remember Todd from the 70’s, he had one good album that he put out in about 1972 called “Something/Anything” that had most of his best songs. He produced it and played several instruments on it. He was probably a better producer but not bad during the early 70’s period.

Poor Todd like so many of his other contemporaries is rather naive, still living in the 1960’s Idealism, and just can’t grow up and see reality.

One of Utopia’s albums was ‘Swing To The Right’ which was a rather satirical Reagan-era record that, unsurprisingly, painted conservatives as book burners etc.

Well, Todd, books are being symbolically burnt on college campuses and in school libraries. The Thought Police are patrolling everywhere, with their ranks full of PC volunteers. And leftists are currently removing historical monuments, leaving plinths as empty as their minds.

Tell us, Todd...who are the fascists here?

Image and video hosting by TinyPic Happily homo. That's got to be an episode of Night Gallery: showing up at another dive and singing to a handful of drunks pulling on slot machines "Hello, It's Me" for the one millionth time.

“Who’s Todd Rundgren?”

He produced the Meatloaf “Bat out of Hell” album. Great album, but he’s obviously not on the same page politically as Meatloaf.

Three of the early birds;
A. “Be Nice To Me”
B. “Boat On The Charles”
C. “You Are My Window!” by Nazz

C. “Sometimes I Don’t Know How To Feel” (A Wizard, A True Star)
A favorite much later on Initiation Album
**”Fair Warning”.

I’m a bit sad that one of my favorites is so myopic, but that happens a lot in music. Not surprised. The very successful musicians are usually surrounded by yes men, groupies, support groups, patronizing press agents and echo chambers.
Whatever ruse it takes to keep the music flowing.
Joni Mitchell would not like me either, and for the same reasons; I’m on the Trump Train and very happy with my choice. Cat Stevens too, would not like me, but with Cat, there are ‘other complications’ to consider.
Goodbye Todd. If I see you next time you’re in downtown Sausalito, Ca. I will just keep walking, won’t ask for a handshake or autograph.

How would you know? Alice Cooper runs a school for wayward kids in Arizona. Kid Rock is hardly a liberal after supporting Romney and Trump.
