The surprising connection between Our Lady of Fatima and Islam

Venerable Fulton Sheen draws an interesting connection between Muslims’ reverence for Mary and the daughter of Mohammed and the appearance of Our Lady at Fátima.

“This brings us to our second point, namely, why the Blessed Mother, in this twentieth century, should have revealed herself in the insignificant little village of Fátima, so that to all future generations she would be known as ‘Our Lady of Fátima.’ Since nothing ever happens out of heaven except with a finesse of all details, I believe that the Blessed Virgin chose to be known as “Our Lady of Fátima” as a pledge and a sign of hope to the Moslem people, and as an assurance that they, who show her so much respect, will one day accept her Divine Son, too.”

[B]esides attracting Christian pilgrims, the shrine at Fátima, Portugal, has also attracted Muslims in great numbers.

I'm sorry to hear that.

that they, who show her so much respect, will one day accept her Divine Son, too.”...

As Catholics we pray for this too, however feasible or infeasible it seems.

God doesn’t know infeasible and all things are possible through him.

That does not mean we should not defend ourselves against the current trajectory islam is on.

But as is often the case, I suspect this thread will be used to insult either the blessed Mother, the Priest in the article or the Holy Roman Church.

That is ok. What is important is that we Catholics remain strong in our faith and forgive our enemy, even as we protect ourselves and our loved ones.

Our Lady of Guadalupe also has a connection with muslims. She is standing on a crescent moon. There is also something with the name and a river.

God has a plan and Mary is part of it.

I am not waiting for the chastisement. I believe we are living it now.

I believe this year will unleash a spiritual revival of some kind. Just keep praying and watch God blow our minds. It’s exciting!

All we can do is trust God and pray!

“the Catholic Church recognizes that Muslims honor the Virgin mother of Jesus, Mary, and invoke her with piety”

This is a lie, a theology and religious practice lie.

The Koran and Islam pay lip service to Joseph, Mary and Yeshua, not respect at all for who they are. By not expecting Yeshua as the Christ, they do not respect or revere Mary as “the mother of G-d”.

I believe Muslim’s go to Fatima NOT because they revere Mary the mother of Yeshua/Christ/G-d because they believe “the lady of Fatima” was a heavenly Islamic offering from G-d.

Christians attempting to write their own “ecumenical” meaning into “our Lady of Fatima” as speaking in a Christian way to Muslims are doing just that - making up their own “ecumenical” interpretation.

Can’t imagine why it would take dependency on drugs to see that the mother of Jesus would want Islam to. E converted to her son but that being said, Fulton Sheen was most certainly NOT a drug addled philosopher

RC and Islam have been dark allies since Islam’s beginning straight thru to the present. Both shakedown mankind to mutually serve their current underlord.

Wow. Cut back on your meds! Or better yet, seek professional help!

You should be glad.

Our Lady is acting as a missionary, as at Tepeyac (Guadalupe, Mexico). Let us hope and pray that her mission succeeds.

Much of this purported history is plain nuts.

Kindly keep in mind that the Catholics were fighting desperate wars against Islam that secured the survival of Christian Europe until well into the 17th century, while the Protestants were ... :::sigh::: ...Not.

Vatican racketeers continue to play their Masses, diddle thousands of choirboys globally, Vatican bank launders mafia’s Million$, make Million$ annually off of Muslim / Illegal Alien Refugee placement services, and now shamelessly promote Islam on the world ushering in a One-World-Religion.

For the first time in history, Islamic prayers and readings from the Quran will be heard at the Vatican on Sunday, in a move by Pope Francis to usher in peace between Israelis and Palestinians.

Francis issued the invitation to Israeli President Shimon Peres and Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas during his visit last week to Jordan, Israel, and the Palestinian Authority.

Abbas, Peres, and Francis will be joined by Jewish, Christian and Islamic religious leaders, a statement released by Peres’s spokesperson said, according to the Times of Israel.

Holy See officials on Friday said the evening prayers would be a “pause in politics” and had no political aim other than to rekindle the desire for Israeli-Palestinian peace at the political and popular level, according to the Associated Press.

The Vatican will broadcast a live feed of the event to viewers across the world.

Why do they allow trash like MarchonDC09122009’s pap on a Catholic Caucus thread?
