I guess there are people who see their children as lifestyle accessories.

Most people don’t find out they are pregnant until 5-6 weeks. Then they may take a few weeks to make their decision to kill. Plenty big enough.
This is such a ghastly thing. I don’t even like this done for normal deaths.

I think IVF and other artificial reproductive technologies turn kids into commodities, based not on how the parents feel about it (they may not feel that way) but based objectively on the way the kids are made.

We knew that was coming!
I want a child with blonde hair and blue eyes, will grow to 6 feet tall, of the sex I chose, defect free because well...I’m paying a lot of money for it.
You do know it’s been found some of the IVF kids are developing a kind of cancer found only to them don’t you? Jurassic Park science finds a way.

And we thought these bronzed baby shoes from the '40s were sentimental:

The "commodity" thing applies to children via surrogacy as well.. People who put up that kind of money, want quality control on the product.
You probably read about the (American? or was it Canadian?) homosexual men who hired a woman in, I think, Thailand, to bear a baby for them for pay, and when it turned out to be twins and one of them had a handicap, they took the one they liked and abandoned the one who wasn't perfect AND stiffed the woman for the fee.
That happens a lot (LINK)

I thought this was for embryos that were made for IVF and no longer wanted.

Yes, that was it. Australian gay guys who hire a surrogate and then assert their right to reject the “product”.

Oh, I guess I didn’t read very well. Busted.
Still, rather than make jewelry out of unwanted embryos, donate them. I decided to make an actual PERSON out of someone’s unwanted embryo. She’s the best kid in the world.
