Can’t his future self just come back in time and give him all the research results?

That way he won’t have to go through all the work.

It's simple physics. Calculate the velocity, v, in relation to the trajectory, t, in which g, gravity, of course remains a constant. It's not complicated.

So, if I go back a week in time, where do I rematerialize? Out in space, where the Earth was a week ago?

That would create a paradox, so it can’t happen..............

BZZTT! It was The Time Machine, published in 1895. Get your facts straight, pal.

The Time Ships, by Stephen Baxter: HG Wells’ family’s officially sanctioned sequel to the Time Machine.

I thought it was pretty good.

The premise was roughly that a time machine serves as a replicator

Yep, that’s a slight problem.
The Earth, Sun and the entire Milky Way Galaxy is in motion, so you would probably end up in intergalactic space, watching the galaxy fade into the distance as you slowly froze to death.............

For his research, Tippett created a mathematical model of a Traversable Acausal Retrograde Domain in Space-time (TARDIS). He describes it as a bubble of space-time geometry which carries its contents backward and forwards through space and time as it tours a large circular path.

I was just discussing this with someone next October.
