Babe Ruth was full time pitcher from 1914-1917. He pitched and won over 20 games in the 1916 and 1917 seasons. In the 1918-1919 he pitched half as much but hit an astounding 29(1919)home runs in the dead ball era that lasted from the beginning of baseball until the end of the 1919 season.
Barry Bonds once said he was better ball player than Babe Ruth. I couldn’t stand Bonds.
According to the historical marker in downtown Fayetteville North Carolina Babe Ruth hit his first homerun there.
Ruth hit 54 homers in 1920, his first year with the Yanks. The two major leagues had a total of 630 that year!
